stabbyfairy: I can sit like that quite comfortably in real life. I get some odd looks when I do it, but it's entirely possible. It certainly does happen a lot in anime but I don't know if it should be described in the exact way it is. Meh, just ignore this newbie's ramblings. XD

Seyr: This is considered an ordinary, informal, feminine way to sit. Japanese girls do this frequently in real life and on television, so seeing it animated is only to be expected.
- Agreed. I've only ever seen this in anime or Japanese TV.
Mizaru: I think this trope is more about falling into the position. The position itself is documented at Seiza Squirm. It's not that hard for people to assume it normally, but to do so rapidly from standing upright seems pretty unrealistic (and painful). At least it was for me when trying to replicate it.
