Silent Hunter: Glad to see people are using this.

Hbomb: I didn't know this page existed until someone on the IRC linked to it. We need more people linking to this on the actual wiki, that way more Tropers will realise they can add their stuff here.

General Nerd: Does this have to be stuff that's actually published, or can you make a page out of, say, a novel you are writing that you hope will one day be published? EDIT: I looked at a few and publishing doesn't seem to be a problem; I don't want to break any rules, though.

theFirebottle : No, there's no requirement for this stuff being published. Mine sure isn't. This page is meant to corral what a lot of tropers already wanted to do: use the wiki as a scratch-pad for their own pet projects.

theFirebottle : On the other hand, if your stuff is actually published (e.g. a webcomic) somewhere, you may want to namespace it under its media type and then just link it here. Maybe we should write up some guidelines for Troper Works. Does anyone object to me drafting something when I get a chance?

Airship Canon: Are unfinished (I.E. in progress) works allowed or is that only for the Darth Wiki? On second thought, I'm launching my entry. If I need to move it to Darth Wiki, I will, but until I'm told to, it is here.

PRC 4 Eva: so, does putting stuff here require notability, or is it like, as long as it's something I wrote, I can put it here?

theFirebottle : For one thing, on this wiki There Is No Such Thing As Notability already. But yes, as long as you wrote it you can stick it here. A lot of this stuff is unpublished altogether, so it's notable to just one person.

Mark Lungo: Does anyone besides me think it would be a good idea to split the index between Fan Fiction and original works?

theFirebottle : I agree, it's getting big enough that some sort of organizing scheme is in order.

Ronka87: Thirding here, and I actually already started sorting a bit. I split the works into three sections: Original Works, Fan Fiction, and Unpublished Works. I only got the idea of making a separate Unpublished Works folder after I'd already sorted most of the works, so pretty well all the Unpublished stuff is still in the "Original Works" section. I just didn't feel like going through all the descriptions again. I don't know that we need the section, but ah well. (The three "stories" currently in the "Unpublished Works" section are redlinks and a blank page.)

I went through all the descriptions to sort the stories, but I'm only human. If you are the author of a work and feel I sorted your story in the wrong category, feel free to place it in the proper one.

Also, I wasn't sure what to do with the sprite comics, so I just put them in the Fan Fic section. Most of them have the characters talking about story/game related stuff, anyway, right? :P

Oh, and for some reason I can make folders. I think the page would probably be better with folders instead of the AC/purple band markup, but it's not working for me. Anyone else want to try?

theFirebottle : Thanks for cleaning this up Ronka87, it's starting to take shape. But if nobody else minds, I think I'm going to have to go through and add index markup to the pages that don't have it. Also, a not-insignificant proportion of these things are webcomics, so I propose a separate webcomic section. Not sure when I'll have time to work on this, given final papers approaching....

Xaris: Is there a specific place to drop non-fiction works or should we just drop those in the original works section?

Levatia: Does a webcomic with one page out count as published or not published? I don't want to get in trouble for anything.

TheAlbinoPrimid: So is there any real difference between the unpublished works on this page and the ones on the Darth Wiki page the background? I really don't want to start an article on something and put it in the wrong place...

MMM_AJ: I'm working on organizing this page into subcategories right now. I'm getting all the work titles, mediums, and fandoms compiled into a huge text file and organizing them. Here's what I've got in mind. Fanworks and Original Works will be the largest categories. Fanworks will have fanfics, webcomics, RPs, etc as subcategories, and Original Works will have similar equivalents. Then, for the fanfic section, since there's room for one more sub-heading, I'm going to try and make more subcategories for each series, like Pokemon, Buffy, etc. In this way, people browsing for different kinds of stuff will be able to find it easier instead of just browsing through a huge list of only titles. What do you guys think of this effort?

Ronka87: I like the idea of splitting Fan Works into categories (RPG, fanfiction, webcomic), but I think splitting fanfiction further might just be too much of a hassle.

MMM_AJ: I have already gone through every single entry on the page and organized them by series in a notepad document. Nerdy yes, but I imagine it would help people who come to this page searching for works from a specific series. I can arrange the series alphabetically within each medium, and works alphabetically within each section. OCD-ish, yes but it would be very pretty and would make it easy for people to know where to put their works when they come to the page to add one too. It's not too much of a hassle for me to do initially, and I will do it myself, because I like making good contributions, and I figured that afterward due to the simplicity of it, it wouldn't be too difficult to maintain. Folders could further ease future maintenance and ease of viewing. I just wanted to get an outside opinion before jumping in and making the change.
