Maso Tey: Trimmed down the following, deleting most of the story/character details.
- Shrek was originally Chris Farley; after his death the part was recast with Mike Myers who redid all the voice parts Farley had done.
- Not quite - at the point Chris Farley was attached to the film, the story was very very different (for example, Shrek was a nice ogre who wanted to be a knight and Fiona - voiced by Janeane Garofalo - was the acerbic grumpy one). After Farley died, the script got a huge extensive rewrite that changed Shrek from a Farley-like character to one more suited for Mike Myers, basically switching around Shrek & Fiona's personality types. If Farley did record any lines, they weren't the same lines that Myers ended up recording for the finished film.
