Khym Chanur: I'm 34, and back when I was in high school, not even a midget contortionist could have fit into one of our lockers. But then my high school was the only public high for a city of around 120,000, so maybe smaller high schools had large lockers.
Morgan Wick: Maybe there's an alternative explanation. Before we try to think of one that doesn't involve personal memories, though, consider: Open lockers have sharp edges. It may actually be more painful to try and shove someone into a small locker than to do it to a big one.
Of course, that doesn't explain the part where they shove you in and close the door.
Maybe just one creator went to the one HS with gigantic lockers and went on to create a Trope Maker.
Lale: Good point. What are the oldest examples we can think of?
BT The P: Did Solid Snake go to high school? Because I bet he would've knocked out a few bullies and stuffed them in their lockers in his time.
