Working Title: The Geoffrey or The Alfred: From YKTTW

You wouldn't like taking orders from some pompous rich higher up for an occupation. In turn, neither do the characters written this way. In turn, the only way to tolerate their occupation of servatude is to snark at your employer for all it's worth. After all, they Can't Live Without You.

The Servile Snarker is a combination of a Deadpan Snarker and The Jeeves. A Butler, slave, servants, whatever, who is heavily sarcastic to their masters and/or their master's guests and yet still manage to keep their jobs.

Don't try this at home if you value your job, and your major organs.

Examples

  • Ur example would be Geoffrey from Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, who was this trope's original title
  • Other Ur example is Alfred from Batman Who was also considered being the trope namer.
  • Hobson in Arthur.
  • The Igors from Discworld
  • the butler from The Ruling Class who makes sarcastic (though not particularly witty) and derogatory comments behind his employers' backs.
  • Edmund Blackadder from Blackadder the Third is made of this trope.
  • Benson from Soap
  • Desmond Pfeiffer from {{The Secret Diary Of Desmond Pfeiffer.}}
