From YKTTW Working Title: Rule of Empathy

How is this different from A Million Is a Statistic?

Earnest: At the risk of sounding pedantic, did you read the description? If yes, how was it unclear so that we can fix that? If not, read it, and then say if something about it is unclear. Regardless, here's the diff.

  • Rule of Empathy: The more we know and see a character, the more we empathize with them and the likelier they are to succeed. The less we know about them, the less we care what happens to them.
  • A Million Is a Statistic: It doesn't matter if a thousand people die off screen because we know nothing about them. We can forgive their death easily. But if someone gets Character Development on screen, their death will be dramatic and impacting, and forgiving the killer much harder.
