The OOTS example doesn't actually have anything to do with this, does it?
Ryusui: It's hard to say at this point. Right up until #654, it looked as if the only three things V managed to accomplish with his Deal with the Devil(s) were saving his family, performing a massive Kick the Dog against an already-defeated opponent and utterly alienating everyone he's ever known and/or loved (including the aforementioned family). Now it seems he's possibly given O-Chul the opportunity to strike and destroy Xykon's phylactery. Whether or not O-Chul actually succeeds even though the damn thing is now actually in his hands is another question, but I suspect that we've yet to see the full extent of V's foretold fate. (Consider Xykon's comment to the effect of "if the wizards you're soul spliced with are so awesome, then how come they're dead?" A not-unreasonable line of logic, as he demonstrates. A de-powered and desperate V plus a misappropriated phylactery...the possibilities are frightening.)
