Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: Cut this and put it here. The point of this trope is that you can't look at whatever it is directly without harm.
- Disney's The Black Hole has such a scene, where Dr. Reinhardt shows our heroes the massive (and somewhat warp core like...) power source of the Cygnus, "enough to power the entire earth." No protective goggles in this one but very reminiscent of 20,000 Leagues, of which this film is basically a remake.
