Pteryx: ...Oh, geez, Our Time Travel Is Different? Come on, time travel isn't even a life form, nor does this have to do with endless permutations of a theme like any of the Our Monsters Are Different tropes. Self-referential failure of imagination, anyone?

Portal Time Travel: Travelling to the past via a portal. Prone to Portal Splats. Basically a big hole in the air with "now" on this side, and "the past" or "the future" on the other. May be shiny, may be smoky.

Since this is about the graphics seen during time travel, not the method of time travel. If you go through a portal and immediately arrive in another time, it's Instaneous Time Travel.
