Working Title: Our Lawyers Advised This Trope: From YKTTW

Insanity Prelude: Think someone has something against the MPAA and ESRB? XD (I'll give them the FCC bit though.)

Tangent128: Removed a bit of the ranting; I think some of these examples belong on another page, though. I think this page is supposed to be about legal warnings, not rating systems.

Kilyle: I wonder if we shouldn't have a trope about the backlash from too much disclaiming. After disclaimers like "do not use this deadly weapon on your genitals," people start thinking that any disclaimer-related news story is about lack of common sense... especially when a lawsuit is involved. Yet I read the details of that hot coffee incident - with the 3rd-degree burns - and from what I read, that woman had plenty of reason to sue the restaurant (and there are other details that imply the restaurant was acting irresponsibly). And still people bring it up as an example of consumer stupidity and our sue-happy nation.
32_Footsteps: How is it that nobody has made a joke about the actual disclaimer depicted until now? Do we all just gloss over those things? The last sentence actually reads: "Violator and subject to severe penalties and will be prosecutedt to the full extent of the jam." That's some of the best Engrish I've ever seen, and nobody has mentioned it yet?
