Sniffnoy: Chrono Trigger? Really? I have a hard time seeing how most of that soundtrack consists of remixes. Remixes of what, anyway? The title theme? Now, Super Mario World, there's a game with a lot of remixes of one tune...

Tanto: Yeah, that's bullshit. Chrono Trigger wouldn't be the single most-remixed game over at Overclocked Remix if it was just one song. Deleting.

Shire Nomad: Seriously, listen to some of the original music. There's massive changes in style, rhythm, key, and so forth, but the core of it is the same basic melody/beat. I don't have the musical knowledge to elaborate... can someone who does restore with clarification?

Sniffnoy: No idea what you're talking about. Leaving out unmodified recyclings, well, "The Hidden Truth" is obviously a variation on "Kingdom Trial", "World Revolution" contains bits of "Chrono Trigger", and... well, "Guardia Millenial Fair" and "First Festival of Stars" sound kind of alike. Other than that... uh... I guess "Wings That Cross Time" could be compared to "Chrono Trigger"? Oh yeah, I suppose "Black Dream" has some resemblance to "Undersea Palace", maybe? I can't find any more than that. What's the similarity, say, between "Wind Scene", "Guardia Castle: Courage and Pride", "Battle 1", and "People Who Threw Away the Will to Live"? It doesn't help that the game had two composers. It's interesting that the music definitely does seem to have mostly uniform in its style - I can't tell the Mitsuda from the Uematsu without looking it up - but then, I'm no music person either. For all I know it just sounds that way due to the instruments used.

Prfnoff: The first part of this is wrong, and the second is a coincidence.

  • One song in Sweeney Todd, about Lovette's beach fantasy, ends verses with a snippet from that one old song that goes "by the seaside, by the beautiful sea!" I can't remember the name, but it's in an episode of I Love Lucy, too...
    • It's "By The Sea". Also- the cadence of "The Worst Pies In London" is a minor-key variation on "Tomorrow" from Annie.
