BT The P: I'm having a category crisis here. Is this a genre, trope, or setting? I can't decide, so I stuck it on tropes. Any opinions otherwise?
I'd say that this sort of thing, as a whole, is a type of setting. The individual parts of it (the bamboo tech and so on) are tropes intrinsic to the setting, but not exclusive to it.

BT The P: Did that. ... Hmm. If changing numbers from numerals to words is being a stickler, what is it when you change words to numerals?
