Paul A: I removed these two:

  • In The Sims, a family's computer will sometimes become defective, and this is shown by the glass in the screen breaking. This condition can be fixed by typing on the keyboard.
  • TV example; In Doctor Who, the Doctor has used his sonic screwdriver to pick locks, decode encrypted data, analyze mysterious lifeforms, detonate land mines, intercept telepathic communications and teleportation beams, charge batteries, light candles, break glass, defeat legions of robots, steal from ATMs, and even, on rare occasion, to drive screws. Since the setting to reattach barbed wire is 2428-D, one can only presume that it has at least 2,428 different settings, and thus, functions.

because they may be magic tools, but they're not the kind of Magic Tool the page is talking about.

YYZ: Technically, the Doctor Who example would fit - it's essentially a little tool that fixes anything when the Doctor waves it at what he wants fixed. Someone got into it a little too deep when they were making the list.

Ununnilium: I'd definitely say the Doctor Who example fits, and I'm putting it back in.

Sci Vo: If the Doctor Who example fits, then what's the difference between this and Green Rocks?

zero29: For Green Rocks the plot chooses the effect, for a Magic Tool the user decides, i think. Also there's redundant info for the Battlefields and Battlefronts in the article.


Lots42: The sonic screwdriver bit confuses me. It -can't- kill? I thought it was the Doctor choose -not- to kill. Like how Spock could easily snap the neck of an adversary he has surprised, but he choose to use the Vulcan Nerve Pinch.
