Doesn't Piro from Megatokyo belong here ?

Ninjacrat: Comic-Piro doesn't resemble real-Piro, and his life is entirely unlike. I meant this entry for characters that resembled their creators in more than just name.

Mister Six: Piro would come under Mary Sue, surely?

Ununnilium: That's another can of worms entirely.

Morgan Wick: ...Isn't this discussion about the webcomic equivalent of The Danza?

HeartBurn Kid: I'm wondering if the protagonist's father's tall tales from the movie Big Fish would fall under this trope. After all, they're all based on his life, only... embellished. (Incidentally, I'm also thinking that the father makes himself into a Marty Stu in those stories...)

Is Planet Karen an example of this?

Twin Bird: I don't think it's embellished enough.

Karen Ellis: If ~I only looked that good in Real Life...

Twin Bird: Weren't Maria and Michelle just friends when they started the strip? If so, do you think that's worth mentioning?
goodtimesfreegrog: If any of you guys think it's a good idea to put more Yahtzee quotes into articles, here's one that might work. Edit it in at your own discrimination:
"...since it's important to write what you know, the main character [of your webcomic] will obviously be you. But while you are a repressed, socially retarded dullard who no-one would ever honestly admit to liking, your author insertion character is a fantasy, so they will be a charismatic eccentric who is unconditionally loved by everyone even while he's setting their dog on fire."
