Working Title: I Choose To Stay: From YKTTW
- Clearly, the best title would be, "I'm not going back, Jim!" from Star Trek: TOS.
- Diana Wynne Jones does this constantly, so much that it's a challenge to find a book where she doesn't do it.
- How about The Crown of Dalemark for a subversion? Maewen goes back to her own time, and although Mitt eventually gets there by The Slow Path, there's no guarantee that they'll get back together. There are also many books where the trope simply doesn't apply.
Paul A: I can't think of a single book in which she does do this, frankly.
