Dark Sasami: Er...but what's the trope? That Japanese puns are hard to translate? That Japanese TV has a lot of puns? Or that sometimes there are lots of puns?

What I expected this to describe was the thing where suddenly, out of nowhere, every line is a pun, each worse than the last, and the characters are all reacting as if in pain.

Scrounge: The lack of pun names for pun-related tropes around here is truly disappointing. :P

Ununnilium: This trope is still confusing in the way Dark Sasami noted. Needs cleaned up.

Grev: Well, I do have to admit when I saw the title, the Beakman pun runs are the first thing I thought of...

Fast Eddie: It seems like the trope is the sudden exchange of a protracted run of puns. I put in a little something to make that more clear. On Scrounge's issue: Something like Punnicane, maybe? It should have "pun" in it.

Ununnilium: Much better. Took out the Azumanga Daioh example, since they don't really do this.

Looney Toons: Pun Storm? Pun Run? Take The Money And Pun? Pun For Your Life? Fourth Down And Pun? Pun For The Border? Punny Business? Do You Feel Lucky Pun?

BT The P: Pun Through The Jungle, Pun On A Bun, Buckets Of Pun, Pun Lola Pun, Logans Pun, Blade Punner, Silent Punning, Javascript Puntime Environment, Hot Cross Puns, Sixteen Pun Weight, Flu Gave Me The Puns, Running Pun Battle, Punshot Wound, First Degree Punburn, We Had Joy We Had Fun We Had Seasons In The Pun... I'll stop, just put down that shotpun, er, gun.

Harpie Siren: I'm wishing for a world without puns...

Ununnilium: I'm Punny, the Pun Sprite! No puns, no puns! *whistle*

Looney Toons: Actually, First Degree Punburn has possibilities...

Seth: I like Hurricane of Puns but if i had to choose one of these i would probably go with Pun Storm or Punnicane (I really like that one actually). I was never confused by the current title though. On an unrelated note imaging what someone who was looking at the old "Needed links/red links" page without reading this one would think.

Fast Eddie: Punburn works. Goes into a sentence pretty easily, is mnemonic, can be verbed... Me likey.

Scrounge: May I suggest we call this a Punslaught? Or maybe Pundoras Box? I'm just now stumbling back across this and finding out the results of a suggestion I forgot I made. ^_^; I suppose I'm a glutton for Pun-ishment.

Seven Seals: I'm probably the only one to think this, but here we go: Hurricane of Puns is just fine. Leaving the Hurricane of Puns on the discussion page will do, thank you. The titles suggested are all suitably lame puns, but the few that are appropriate are too horrible to live. Leave the puns to the entries that aren't about puns.

Seth: I like it as well.

Scrounge: Deep sixed the red links.

Kilyle: I don't mind the current trope name, but if we were going with something with "Pun" in it, I'd vote for Punder Storm.

Rogue 7: Preserving this for posterity:

  • So wouldn't that be a blizzard? (*hides*)
    • Dude, that's just cold. (*hides also*)
    • That's snow good, time to start over. (*stands tall and proud*)
    • Now, now, people...play nice. (*hides behind guy standing tall and proud*)
    • Yeah, what's wrong with ice puns? You guys need to chill out. (*stands relatively short but nonetheless proud*)
    • They tend to meet with a frosty reception. (*digs five-foot trench to hide behind guy standing short and proud*)
    • Icey what you mean, but never forget: revenge is a dish best served cold. Possibly with a bit of booze on the rocks. Am I catering to a wider audience yet? Don't let me block further replies! (*arms Sheldon*)
    • Arms Sheldon? Well let's see, we've got his arms, we've got his legs, the rest of him ought to be popping out of that egg any time now! (*Ha! Take That!!*)
    • Don't you mean "replice?" But let's not let this all snowball out of all proportion. We might get the cold shoulder from more of the cooler websites. There is a snowflake's chance in hell that we'd get snowed under from all the extra attention, though. Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week. (takes a bow)
    • ...Well, I guess snow use trying to top that one!
    • I know. The very thought gives me chills. Still, let's skate over that slippery slope...
    • That's good advice.
    • You guys win the Winternets.
    • I want to slice you all to ribbons.
    • Screw you all, I'm going to sleet.
    • Hey, cool it, no need to get nippy.
    • Hey! This all started simply as a description of Mr. Freeze's Hurricane of Puns and now look at all this! What the HAIL is going on around here?!
    • Well, at this point the conversation has absolute zero to do with the film.
    • Mr. Freeze actually got one pun outside of his appearance in Batman And Robin - in the Batman Beyond episode Meltdown, after reclaiming his suit, he says "something I kept in cold storage". Unless he meant it literally.
    • Well, the troper above me certainly gave this hurricane of puns the cold shoulder. That wasn't very nice. But, this is snow time to rest. I've got to make my icecape! Wasting time on the web is putting my academics on thin ice!
    • I think Mr Freeze is a pretty cool guy. Eh makes ice puns and doesn't afraid of being not funny.
