I deleted the example about Meg from Family Guy. It didn't seem to meet the criteria for Heroic Self-Deprecation, but looks a lot like the definition of Chew Toy.
—- Austin: I didn't want to add anything since I haven't watched the show, but isn't Shinji of Evangelion a justified example? He does save the world, but it sounds like the show goes out of it's way to establish that yes, he really does suck.
How come Subaru Sumeragi from TB/X is not listed here? He's like the epitome of this trope. Especially in TB.
