Working Title: Faith Heel Turn: From YKTTW

Jordan: I launched this only with the examples of characters who end up really bad. Otherwise, I have a hard time separating this from the Hollywood Atheist. I suppose that redemption through religion could also be added, but that is already a part of the Hollywood Atheist idea, and is also mentioned in Easy Evangelism.

Indigo Violent: took out the bit about Truth in Television since no specific example was provided. People deconvert from religion all the time without turning into complete monsters, so apostasy by itself does not fit the trope.

Blork: Removed the Anakin/Vader example because he never stopped believing in the Force, he just started using it for evil rather than good.

Are there any stories where this happens with a real-life religion, or a close stand-in for one? Like, an decent person has a near-death experience and dedicates their life to God, and it makes them a Knight Templar? It seems like there would be, but I can't think of an example. —Document N
