- While Yugi had saved Kaiba's own butt just as well. But I believe he did thank him during the first Virtual Reality Arc; he even said they would make a good team together (he kept bashing Jonouchi/Joey, though). And of course, Kaiba got them out of some nasty situations as well; the rescue of Anzu/Tea being the first thing that comes to mind (and she didn't thank him, either).
This post:
- On Dragonball Z, this trope is one of the reasons why Frieza's defeat at the hands of the hero, Goku, was so humiliating.
- In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Harry, having cornered Lord Voldemort, tells him that he has two options: he can choose not to repent, in which case he will die with his soul split in eight pieces, or feel remorse for his crimes, which just might allow him to reintegrate it, though possibly killing him. Voldemort cannot bring himself to accept Harry's proposal, and so attempts to duel, which, as Harry predicted, leads to his death.
