Working Title: The Machine God: From YKTTW

Kizor: Three great beasts under the world! They speak in numbers!

Earnest: ... thanks, I guess? I mean: And Lo! The opal eye opens, and no soul escapes that iridescent gaze.

Kizor: We must dissent

Earnest: In dissent there is concordance.

Sikon: Shouldn't it be "Deus Machina Est"?

Nyar: "Deus Est Machina" is perfectly acceptable Latin. Word order doesn't matter. Looks like you guys really didn't do the research.

Vampire Buddha: Also, Deus Machina Est isn't as good a pun

Kerrah: Actually, while the order of words doesn't matter, the word "deus" should be in accusative to signify it is the object of the sentence. Therefore, the real form is "Deum est machina".

Noaqiyeum: Aw khan traer, the "to be" verb in Latin utilizes the nominative case for both the "subject" and the "object" (since the sentence says they are, in fact, the exact same thing, which is which is irrelevant) and, in any case, if one of the two was to be the object the emphasis suggests it ought to be machinam. But there isn't. Deus est machina is, in fact, perfectly acceptable. (Now, the deus ex machina title could have a macron over that final a, but that's obviously not possible.)

  • GRAMMAR hits KERRAH for 5604237 damage, KERRAH faints, you have defeated a wild KERRAH.

The Bad Wolf: looks like you didn't do the research either Noaqiyeum. Macrons are a modern innovation to make Latin easier to read, but unlike lowercase letters and spaces the macrons are mostly used in beginner learn to read Latin books. So Deus Est Machina is fine, and if anyone wants to nitpick the most anal way would be DEVSESTMACHINA

Noaqiyeum: Well, that's what I get for trying to get a Wiki Word out of it. (Although I didn't say it should have a macron, only that it could.)

Servitor_2152: "SHODAN wasn't of godlike intelligence, though. She did some really, really stupid stuff. Like not pouring concrete down the one and only shaft leading from Security to the Bridge when she realised there was something horrible running around the station with an R-grade cyber rig, a lot of guns, a lot of drugs, motorised roller skates, an upgradeable personal shield and a laser rapier..." Ignoring the fact that most antagonistic AI's aren't godlike in their infallibility, that's not stupidity, that's arrogance. SHODAN didn't consider the Hacker a real threat until he was practically wiping her hard drive. There's a reason she typically refers to you as "insect."
