Working Title: Ballad Of Ass-Kickery: From YKTTW
Madrugada: I was going to defend this as different, but it's not really. There are a couple of minor differences, but not enough to justify having two nearly identical tropes. I tried writing up an entry for the Canonical list of differences, and couldn't do it without writing paragraphs about both of them.
Some Sort Of Troper: Standard Snippet- piece of music often used in conjunction with a particular type of scene. Background music for cartoons, mostly. This trope- particular music used to invoke specifically triumphant badassery. Standard Snippet has no restrictions on what it is trying to invoke nor even on how it ties itself in. Oh yes, there are bad examples in here, it could use filling out in the description to stave off decay, but there are clear differences. Look at the first line of Standard Snippet : Typically appearing in Mickey Moused cartoons, this is the inclusion of brief segments of (mostly) old standard songs — almost always songs that do not involve paying royalties — as themes for various types of scenes or activities. This element is completely outside of this trope.
