From YKTTW

I recently posted a message about this to the forum, because being the newb I am, it had somehow slipped my mind that each trope has a discussion page. Anyway, there is something wrong with this page, but it's hard to say what; the YKTTW discussion linked to above indicates that there was some confusion from this page's inception. The description of the page indicates that it's about the humor that comes from fads that had passed at the time the TV show (or other work) was made. However, when The Simpsons episode that was the trope namer first aired pogs were still popular; it was ALF that was the passing fad. Therefore the example from The Simpsons is inappropriate, and unless the title is intended to be an inversion of the trope it is also inappropriate. If we want to preserve a link to that episode of The Simpsons we could change the name to Anyone Remember ALF. Whatever we call it, I think a change is in order. — SgtSchumann

I've removed a statement to the effect that the trope name comes from an episode of The Simpsons. The true origin is apparently that troper Scrounge dropped the name into the Title Bin without knowing that it had any relationship to The Simpsons. In any case as I noted above the episode in question originally garnered its laughs by referencing ALF and the closest thing there was to the line "Anyone Remember Pogs?" was "Remember ALF?"; this obviously isn't the origin of the trope's name. In the forums there seems to be some resistance to changing the name, so I won't be doing so until we have something more of a consensus. — SgtSchumann
