Mr Etaoin Shrdlu: I am a Lumper, and proud. We do not need this many goddamn articles!

RedBeardSean: Okay, a trope for and about tropers. How meta is that?! Kudos to whoever posted this one.

Morgan Wick: I think this might be, like... one of the oldest pages on the wiki.

RedBeardSean: I'm still a relative noob. Hard to look cynical and jaded, yet wide-eyed in wonder at the same time. :-)

Morgan Wick: Nothing against you, just recording it in case someone edits it and wipes out the history. :D

Seth I am such a splitter.. then again I seem to lump a lot of things as well. I'm a reasonable editor I guess.

Looney Toons: I just hunch down in my seat when the topic comes up, which I guess makes me a Slumper. <grin>

Citizen: I be a lumper. I see~ the connections. @_@ // Wait, on second thought make me a renamer. :3

Duckluck: I'm sort of a die-hard Splitter. I can't stand it when people lump disparate concepts together (that's what index pages are for).

Splitting rocks. That's why there are the sections at the bottom of pages that say "Compare X" and "Contrast Y" and "For it's Female Counterpart, see Z." That's why there are different pages for BFG and BFS. Hooray for Splitting!

Mister Six: This article should be divided into "Lumper" and "Splitter".

Ununnilium: XD applauds

i agree

Harpie Siren: ... You do realize that was a joke...

i know

Harpie Siren: You're an odd little dude...

Dark Sasami: This is the same member of the illiterati who keeps vandalizing Yes, but What Does Zataproximetacine DO? under different names or anonymously from 66.69.86.114. I want his hide.

Being X: no i'm not...

Being X: HEY!!!!!! what happened to my articles!?!slash?!?!?!?!?eleven??!two?!

Shadrin: Actually, there should be 3 different articles, one describing lumpers, one describing splitters, and this one describing the debate between them.

Mr Etaoin Shrdlu: We need to immediately Cut List this page and start work on "Common Wiki Wars". Okay, I'm joking, but it's still not a bad idea.

are there such things as compulsive indexers?

Seth: Thast's just being neat. Nuthin wrong with that.

Rogue 7: Can we put examples on this page? I ran across an exact use of "lumper" and "splitter" in a paleontology textbook dealing with taxonomic classification.
