Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
The no complaining bit is the tope of the third section.
It's rather subjectively applied though.
Edited by dcutter2The way I've always interpreted the above is that threads like "Work X Sucks and You Suck For Liking It!" are not allowed, but discussion threads about specific works permit valid criticisms.
"As long as I have my comrades with me, I can do anything!" (She/Her) (Current Focus: Cleaning Hell Is That Noise misuse)It's also sort of context dependent. Complaining about a work may be less problematic in the media threads than at, say, the project forum or Yack Fest
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMore like just coming into a thread to be rude and complain or complaining when one thing is compared to another.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. You can talk about shows and movies you don't like in the threads that are dedicated to that specific movie or TV show. However, you can't make threads that's all about complaining about that work or person, like making threads about "Why I Hate Star Wars" or "Why this person is a terrible person."
And to my understanding (and take this with a grain of salt), I don't think you are allowed to complain about a celebrity or a content creator within their works threads. Like, if the thread is only talking about the content creator's work, but then the conversations start deteriorating into bashing said content creator, then those posts would often get thumped since it's basically complaining about the content creator, instead of talking about their works.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I do remember there being another rule saying, "If you don't like a thread, don't post in it." So, no entering a thread just to be rude.
"As long as I have my comrades with me, I can do anything!" (She/Her) (Current Focus: Cleaning Hell Is That Noise misuse)
What is the policy for complaining about a show or film on the forum? I need to know so I know when hollering the mods is appropriate.
If there is a link to the rules, that would also be helpful. Thanks.
