Australia's first Gay & Lesbian radio station, with a low-power broadcasting licence in inner-city Melbourne.
Programs are a mix of talkback, music and lifestyle programs and a wide variety of music, typically tending towards Dance and electronic music on weekdays, with some specialty programs on late nights and weekends.
Available to listen to all over the world through the internet.
Tropes:
- All Gays are Promiscuous - Camp Gay presenters tend to embrace this stereotype, injecting innuendo into everything. Straight Gay presenters frequently resent the oversexualised image homosexuals have.
- All Lesbians Want Kids - Inverted. It's the gay men making the most noise about same-sex parenting rights.
- Camp Gay - Comedy hosts tend towards campness. Two Fat Lattes are an example.
- Cast Full of Gay - There's no specific rule that you have to be gay to be a presenter, but it obviously helps.
- Celebrity Endorsement - Heaps of these in station promos. Typically making fun of themselves.
- Deadpan Snarker - Pretty much everyone.
- Gayborhood - You will hear the words "Prahran" and "Commercial Road" a lot in advertisements for this reason.
- Gentleman Snarker - A common archetype for Straight Gay presenters.
- Gay Conservative - Hosts of news and current affairs show The Spin tend to cover policy debates from a conservative perspective.
- Gym Bunny - Advertisers compete aggressively for this market.
- Hard Gay - Rumors about AFL footballers being armored closet gays are extremely popular.
- I Listen For The Music - Quite a few men who are straight or otherwise indifferent to gay interests listen because it plays a better mix of Dance Pop and electronic music than the commercial stations.
- Love Hurts - Listening to any of the discussions about relationships make it abundantly clear things aren't any easier on the other side of the fence. Bittersweet love songs are very popular.
- Political Overcorrectness - Inverted, as political correctness is a favourite topic of satire.
- Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism - Quite cynical. It's not easy being queer and nobody's expecting that to change in a hurry or by itself.
- Refuge in Audacity - Presenters and listeners alike enjoy trolling the Moral Guardians at every opportunity.
- Sliding Scale of Silliness vs. Seriousness - To offset the grim realities of gay life, much of the content is fun, frivilous and Camp.
- Stereotype Reaction Gag - Employed frequently.
- Straight Gay - The majority of the hosts aren't going to beat you over the head with their FABULOUSNESS.
- Token Lesbian - There was a time when there was only one lesbian on the management board. She made a snarky PSA encouraging lesbians to get more involved in the station if they wanted better representation.
