"It's the end of days. No more people, no more New York, no more nothing."

A Quiet Place: Day One is a 2024 sci-fi horror film and the prequel to A Quiet Place. It is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig), produced by John Krasinski, and stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Denis O'Hare, and Djimon Hounsou.

The film returns to the beginning of the alien invasion, moving the action to New York City - the noisiest locale imaginable. The film premieres on June 28, 2024.

Previews: Trailer 1, Trailer 2

A Quiet Place: Day One includes examples of the following:

  • Big Applesauce: The trailer establishes the location with a wide shot of New York City.
  • Closed Circle: The second trailer reveals that the protagonists initially attempted to escape New York City (apparently the only place the aliens landed in the nearby country at first) only for the American military jets to blow the bridges out in a futile attempt to halt the Alien Invasion, leaving everybody trapped.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Per Lupita Nyong'o, while the protagonists of the mainline films were a Nuclear Family with pre-established bonds and had an innate sense of togetherness, the characters here are a group of strangers forced to work together and survive during a life-or-death situation.
  • Foregone Conclusion: As a prequel this is to be expected to some extent. We know that humanity will not deter the alien invasion due to the state of the world in the original film. Furthermore, the fate of Djimon Hounsou's character seems assured, since he appears in A Quiet Place Part II.
  • Interquel: A time card in the trailer sets the film at day one of the invasion, around the same time as the prologue in Part II.
  • Super Window Jump: One of the last shots in the trailer is of the aliens jumping down through a glass ceiling to chase the protagonists.
  • Throwing the Distraction: In the trailer, Eric throws a rock into the window of a nearby car, causing a car alarm to go off and for the aliens to be distracted by the noise, thus buying him and Sam some time to escape.
