* ContinuityDrift: The game's story getting a change in writers twice[[note]]The original CBT writer and writer of chapters 1-10 was replaced by a writer who handled chapter 11 and ''Verderous Holiday'', and now is on its third writer since ''Perilous Snowpath''[[/note]] has led to the story changing tones and some obvious seam lines for where the new writers have taken over the plot. This includes the story spending a notable portion of the plot moving outside the Containment Zone, the shift away from the factional politics that made up the early story, the change in [[spoiler:Edda's characterization, going from a utilitarian AI to momentary captive, and now a far more emotive GreaterScopeVillain]], and ongoing {{Orwellian Retcon}}s to the old chapters to try and make straighten out the story.

* OrwellianRetcon: ''Snowbreak'' is quick to patch its gameplay, as well as its plot. This has led to so-called "optimizations" of dialogue in older chapters to change character relationships, such as deintensifying Chenxing and Siris's friendship, or a rewrite of Chapter 5 that makes Enya more hostile to Gavin, as opposed to the old script that implied they had some professional courtesy, even though they were on opposing sides.

* Several characters are designed for support functions, including their Ultimate skills. Therefore, players can select whether the quickfire Ultimates will "Switch In" the off-field characters on activation or not. This can allow players to focus on one main on-field character, while letting the support characters pop their Ults to further supplement their main character without having to switch them back in right after.

* BigBadEnsemble: As the plot develops, it eventually settles on two different overarching villains: [[spoiler:Yggdrasil's board of directors, who are experimenting with Titagen in order to achieve immortality and godhood, and Edda, a rogue AI that undergoes a ZerothLawRebellion and seeks to "save" humanity by wiping them out and uploading them into Valhalla, a MindHive.]] The two villains wind up being the driving force behind various chapters, forcing Yggdrasil to keep its attention split between them.
