* UniquenessDecay: In the early days, Legendary and Mythical Pokémon were depicted as one of a kind, untameable and [[PhysicalGod extraordinarily powerful]], and were largely confined to movies outside of cameos or representations. ** Prehistoric Pokemon sightings were treated as a very surprising occurrence early in the series, regardless if they were found in the wild or restored from fossils. They are still considered unique as the plot demands but their presence becomes less unique compared to their debut where a lot of trainers frequently own prehistoric Pokemon while few people comment on this occurrence.

** Similarly, few people respond to the appearance of very unique or elusive Pokémon unless the plot calls for it. This is especially evident in later series, where the protagonists are allowed to capture [[OlympusMons Mythical or Legendary Pokémon]].

* StudioEpisode: ''The Indigo League'' has a two-parter set in Hollywood (which is apparently in Western Kanto; the original Japanese explains it's just named after Hollywood) where Ash and the gang are recruited to help make a film with an all-Pokémon cast, where Misty's Psyduck lands the leading role. The second half of the two-parter elaborates on the backstory of Team Rocket's talking Meowth, [[spoiler:with the film itself a bit of a footnote, with the appearances by all of Ash's Pokemon being on the cutting-room floor]].
