I really love the surreality of a bunch of teenagers being a part of the criminal underworld, and the fact that they all speak like a LA detective from the 50s. Usually the unrealistic image of teenagers is them partying and drinking and having sex every night, but Brick just spun that up to eleven and had them build a whole criminal organization. The underlying music throughout the film really sets the athmosphere, and the cinematography is simply amazing. The plot twist works well not because it's so unpredictable but because the dialogue and the events are so fast paced you won't think about what Laura might really be up to. I like that Brendan is not a character trying to do what's right as a lawful citizen, but simply acting on behalf of Emily. To compare it with Knives Out, this is the superior mystery fiction, neo noir movie by Rian Jonhson!
I'm simply in love with this movie, and I can't believe so many people don't like it
