The reason? Gentarou easily qualifies for hero, being a main character Kamen Rider its almost always a must, one of his biggest character traits is that he pledged to make friends with everyone in his new school on the first day (as of episode 15-ish... he\\\'s doing pretty well) and his magnetism extends to the school ice queen, the JerkJock, an info broker of the school who uses people, a creepy goth girl and the guy who never wanted him using the system in the first place... and even to the bad guys he fights. Yes, this guy is so effective, some of the monsters (who are transformed humans) become friends with him, usually after they loose the power, but at one point he managed it while the monster was in MONSTER FORM.
And the idiot part... well, aside from being pretty stupid (although he does well in battle)... he once boasted that a test that came back as 50% was the heighest mark he ever got (it was actually 18, but the cruel teacher he had made friends with recently was being nice). He\\\'s also hammy, but there are hammier.

EDIT: Alternatively, if there isn\\\'t already one, God of Space. (Reasoning: His catchphrase is \\\"Uchu Kita\\\", which can be translated in many ways, such as \\\"Its space time\\\" \\\"Space is Awesome\\\" and \\\"SPAAAAAAACE\\\")
