That dead look is needed to maintain a face suited for the character, since high amounts of expression are generally considered immodest and not as beautiful (in terms of physical appearance.)
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Bleh, I say. Bleh.
The Misa is cute.
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over.It was a good Misa. And Auron.
月を見るたび思い出せWhat an appalling idea. Not every character is Aburame Shino; to strip out the nature of a persona in exchange for a uniform standard of charm goes against the very thing that makes cosplay and acting interesting and lovely to begin with.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!That's Japan for you. The more I learn about the Japanese, the more I think that their social standards must be set by a secret cabal of emotionless robots.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone....built by the Japanese.
月を見るたび思い出せCosplay and acting are rather separate in Japanese cases, since cosplay, for them, is more about just giving off the look of the character more than actually being them.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits. But they cease to look like the character when the cosplayers do a mannequin impression.
Why is that?
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Because acting.
Why do you need to act as the character to match the general image?
I'm also not exactly sure what you meant by a "dead look" to begin with, though.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I think she meant cosplayers going :| instead of actually acting like the character they look like.
月を見るたび思い出せ^^^ Yeah, if you're going to dress as the character, you should at least try to act the role for photos.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I view cosplay as making an impression of that character, so I prefer to cosplay characters that not only I think are interesting to cosplay, but also characters I'm familiar with.
I mean, an Ace Attorney cosplay isn't the same if you don't know about that infamous finger-pointing pose. ;) Speaking of which, I haven't found a recent and appropriate opportunity to shout OBJECTION! at a gathering or convention while in my Apollo cosplay, at least without getting called out for noise violations. :(

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits. What if going :| is what the character would do?
TU NE CEDE MALIS CLASS OF 1971Then they're acting in-character.
月を見るたび思い出せAnd an actual good Naruto cosplay...Gaara. Another one who's a dead ringer for the character.
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over.I can't tell if that Aeon Clock is a boy or a girl... PERFECT!
And just for the record: I am still reading Air Gear, but it has crossed the line three times IMO. In other words: I want to see how it ends, but it is so over-the-top rediculous lately that I have lost a lot of my interest in it.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!I don't follow cosplay much, but this Marle impressed me.
It Just Bugs MeDAYUMM.
Heaven doesn't want me, and Hell's afraid I'll take over.
Is it just me, or do Japanese cosplay models not look like they're having any fun? They all sort of have a dead look to them.
