I just read that Buckley did the impossible. He sold a print of "Loss" on eBay. It managed to sell for over $300 dollars.

I'd check Something Awful, but it's currently in lockdown mode and I can't access the forum without joining.

I went through and read some of the archive from the last year, and I've gotta say, I think I was too rabid with a lot of my hate. The strip isn't a masterpiece, but as long as it sticks to comedy and not drama, it can be pretty decent.

The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]

[up]From what I've read in various places, the strip has always been decent, it's the author's management of the associated forum that isn't. However, I never went to said forum, so it's hearsay.

The comic can be pretty terrible when it attempts drama. And it attempted a lot of drama over the years. Now that it's mostly gag-a-day strips I'm enjoying it a bit more. Dreading the return of Ethan, though.

I'd like the console wars storyline more if it wasn't just focusing on PS 4 and X Bone.

Um, but it hasn't just focused on them.
Sure, those two have been in the spotlight, but they're the ones leading sales.

So far, out of the 25 console war pages,
We've seen the: Playstation 4 - 13 pages
Xbox One - 19 pages
Ouya - 2 pages
Steam Machine - 4 pages(5, if you the count the Ouya stabbed the the tree by the knife with the Steam-logo-handle)
Wii U - 2 pages

Majority, yes, but it's not only thing going on.

...That's still focusing on them. I didn't say nothing else appeared.

Note that the Ouya and Steam pages were part of an X Bone (or was it PS 4?) plotline. If it had focused on them, we'd have gotten stuff from their POV, plotlines about them.

[up][up]I think the steam blade counts.

For the previous strip, was anyone else more bothered by the fact that Four is taking cake off an unsliced section than the fact she's grabbing a bunch of it with her bare hands?

I'm more bothered by the fact she's stuffing it in her pocket.

Watch Two's eyes. He's not even listening to her; he's thinking the same thing you are.

So... it's a superhero comic now?

Ethan's still a terrible manchild, apparently.

Wow, can this comic ever get brought up without someone hating on it?

Or can someone just fix my tastes in webcomics? I'd like that.

If this is hating, you haven't seen the Sinfest thread yet.

[up]Well, the Sinfest Thread just so happens to be particularly mopey at the moment.

As for the current reboot, eh. Art got a nice upgrade, but other than that, not much to write home about.

What would you call someone who essentially got a restraining order put out to keep him from peeing on someone else's booth?

I was actually enjoying the comic up until this arc started. It's not my fault someone resurrects the discussion thread right around the time stuff I don't like pops up.

Ah, I was getting Ethan confused with Tim, the creator of the comic. I still found it pretty funny, though.

I've said it before: Buckley is ok at writing a gag strip, but the man just has no sense for storytelling. We're 6 pages into a 30 page comic and it's done almost nothing to sell this concept.

[up][up]Lol, no biggie. I was wondering why people would disagree with that assessment of Ethan. I was kind of hoping Ethan 2.0 would've changed, but oh well.

[up]That about sums it up. It's especially important that he sell his readers on the story since he's actually selling issues of it right now, if I understand correctly. You can either read the daily updates and get it for free, or pay and get the whole thing up front.

But currently, it's just not grabbing me. Maybe that'll change in the days to come.

If this is genuinely the reboot, I find it even more meh than the original.

[up][up][up] I have no sense of storytelling either, so I can't recognize bad storytelling when I read it. Maybe that' one reason I like the comic, I dunno. Or maybe I just legitimately like bad storytelling more than good storytelling?
