"Was that an old convention of TV Tropes works pages that fell into disfavor for some reason?"
That's what I'm guessing. I didn't see it on new pages even when I came to the site.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It indeed fell out of favor a good while ago.
So would it be a good idea to eliminate them from pages that still have them?
Jet-a-Reeno!I don't think they're officially frowned on, it more that people just stopped adding them to new works pages. I kind of like them.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Yep. "Optional" for those is a workable approach. Not sure they should go on the Works template.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyIs there a way to put those boxes on the right? I'm wondering if they fell out of general use at the same time people started figuring out that the vast majority of the time, trope images look better on the right than on the left.
I just changed the Dragnet image to put it on the right, which leaves the little orange box all by itself on the left, which doesn't look very good.
Jet-a-Reeno!I put the one in Dragnet in a quoteright. Works pretty well. That orange color is from hunger, though.

Something I've occasionally wondered about, and just now noticed as I'm working on the Dragnet page:
What's the deal with the little orange box with info on "Format(s)" and "Genre(s)"? I see those occasionally on Works pages, but generally, it seems, on older pages and/or ones that don't get a ton of attention.
