Personally, I was thinking about having Theodore Roosevelt as Rider, and I had an idea for a power or two for him. Something for shrugging off damage (Iron Heart Surge "Bull Moose", perhaps?) to represent him beating asthma and giving a speech after getting shot in the chest. And then..."Rough Rider", perhaps something like Medusa's Bellerophon Charge. But for me, motivation is kinda hard. What does he want? To preserve the environment, to strengthen America, possibly unite the world?

I think part of the reason I'd pick Master is; it's easy. Don't have to think up a historic figure or their powers and motivations.

Also, it was brought up, as awesome as some of the Heroes of the modern era are (Bad Ass of the Week?), it's not epic enough. Also, they don't really have unique superpowers. Napoleon or Wellington might have been Bad Ass tactical geniuses, but they don't have any superpowers. "Reverse Slope Defense Noble Phantasm!" "Feigned Retreat!" "Continental System!"

Then again, it's kinda confusing how Iskander got a giant lighting chariot from cutting the Gordian knot.

Even for more medieval heroes, like Charlemagne, or Harold and William the Conquerer, they don't really have superpowers, though I suppose William the Conquerer could be the Archer class "Arrow Through Harold's Eye!"

Odysseus/Ulysses? 'Incredibly Confusing Attack!', which, although a James Joyce Incredibly Lame Pun, might fit with the sneaky character portrayed in The Odyssey. Or, just another Eye Scream.

Just an idle thought, I'm a big Conan The Barbarian fan; it's kinda silly, but I'd have suggested him for Saber or something. Atlantaen sword, perhaps? King By His Own Hand? Riddle of Steel? And of course, his motivation would be easy; "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women."

I wanted to be Rider but I guess my guy can fit as Archer too. If someone wants to be Archer/Rider, I can move my guy to either spot. I can play as the master of this servant too if you guys want.

  • Class: Archer

  • Master: Velnias Kardas (if someone wants to be the master, I don't mind if you make your own character)

  • True Name: Genghis Khan

  • Gender: M

  • Height/ Weight: 171cm 67kg

  • Alignment: Lawful Good

  • Stats: (From E to A+, E being the worst, A+ being the highest)

o Strength: C

o Endurance: A

o Agility: A (C without mount)

o Magical Energy: D

o Luck: C

o Noble Phantasm (Rank): C

  • Class Abilities: (From E to A+, a single Servant will obviously not have all of these. Also how strong these abilities will be depends on the individual Servant)
    • Riding: B

  • Skills: Particular powers that depend on the Heroic Spirit's character.
    • Charisma: (can I use EX? It IS Genghis Khan so... If not, just A+) Talent to lead and command a great army.

    • Mind's Eye (True): C [Insight fostered by training. A "combat logic" that allows for calm analysis of the situation and the enemy's ability in spite of danger, and consideration of all possible actions in a particular situation. If there is even a 1% chance of a comeback, this ability greatly improves the chances of success.]

    • Presence Enhancement: C [Creates an aura of greatness within 100m of the user. Any who enter will be instilled with fear and respect. All who are caught can either flee at once, or fight to the death.]

  • Noble Phantasms: Weapons and powers unique to the Heroic Spirit alone. (I planned to have it as a reality marble with the entire mongolian army but then I found out that the idea was already taken by Alexander so I'm using a different noble phantasm T_T)

    • Emperor's mount [Archer's personal horse. It has enhanced speed and agility using the magical energy from Archer. Reaches top speeds of 200 mph, can reach and stop from top speed in 2 seconds. Turning capabilities are also enahanced.]
      • Rank: D
      • Type: Anti-Personnel Noble Phantasm
      • Range: -
      • Maximum Target: -

    • Stolen Weapons [After seeing a Noble Phantasm used once, Archer can copy it and use it on his own once the servant using the original Noble Phantasm is killed (does not have to be killed by Archer or his master. As long as the servant using it is killed or dies), but each copied Noble Phantasm can only be used once. Archer's copied version will drain twice as much mana (in total) as the original.]
      • Rank: E-A++
      • Type: -
      • Range: -
      • Maximum Target: -

Alright neobowman Archer is accepted and officially yours.

Rider Class sure is popular huh? We've had like 4 proposals for it already.

And talking about Rider, I know you're still thinking about it Dr Rockopolis, but at this point I would like to know what your decision is, if you want to play Rider as Theodore Roosvelt or if you prefer playing as a Master.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Man, why didn't I think of Genghis Khan?

Oh well. I figure, since this is my first Fate RP, I should probably start simple and be a Master. Someone else can be the Servant. There's always time for Roosevelt later.

Hmm...not sure who I want to be Master of, though. Archer or Rider, maybe? Can I hold off until I see what the Servants are going to be like?

Well then who takes Rider? Catch The Sun has priority but I'm not sure if he wants to take the role.

So on another topic entirely ( and as a transparent attempt to try to get someone to actually make this war's Berserker), let's talk about...

Forteuch Seilus, Master of Berserker

The important thing to know is that the Seilus line was mainly a bunch of vengeful fools. Though their founder, Iserran, was a genuine genius of magecraft, almost mastering the miracle of true teleportation, his descendants each put progressively less effort into his original techniques and progressively more effort into the field of counter-magic, seeking to humiliate rivals who had outdone them at some point. By the seventh generation, where Forteuch inherited the line, only the crudest of spatial altering magic was left of Iserran's legacy.

The family's ability to unravel magic, however, had advanced to the level of a science.

Forteuch was retained by the Mage Association as a sort of internal policeman, being used to contain the collateral damage from other mages' battles and occasionally apprehend one who overstepped their bounds too far for the Association's liking. Shortly before the events in Weirhollow, he was assigned to eliminate a woman who was believed to be seeking a means to cause mass destruction using the impending Grail War.

Forteuch tracked her down in Weirhollow and promptly killed her. Unfortunately for him, he did so in the middle of her summoning circle, making her a sacrifice for the summoning of a Servant and incidentally transferring her command seals to his neck. Like it or not - and the answer to that is indeed "not" - Forteuch Seilus is now a part of the Weirhollow Grail War.

He carries a set of Mystic Codes known as Silentium Signifer, twelve knives of assorted shapes, each geometrically designed with the later Seilus family's research to be able to cut through magic. Unfortunately, there are several rather obvious problems with these, the most glaring being that it is an exceptionally bad idea to attempt to use them to break spells on oneself...

Is this the Sixth Holy Grail War, a prior one, or some alternate continuity?

Also, as part of my problems finding a motivation, why would someone want the Grail, given that it's a Literal Genie, assuming you take literal to mean Made of Explodium. It's very concept is; bad things happening, to you, isn't it? "Great, Holy Grail, I wish...Aaargh..."

To my understanding, only Fuyuki's Grail is tainted like that. Largly due to Angra Mainyu's wish for the whole world to burn. Although, I think that originally it wasn't so much a wish granter but a way to access the Akashic Records, which would be pretty high on almost any magi's wish list anyway.

I'm a bit antsy on this. I know I've been stuffing it up last time. Why don't I just be an observer this time? That and I haven't got much clue what to do with Nappy.

There's more than one Grail? A new Grail, a new 'route to everything'; why is it still set up exactly like the last one, like a tag-team fight to the death? "Because it wouldn't make an interesting game otherwise.

Actually, the more I read about the Grail, and the Akashic Records, the more I think that the Grail should be filled with Spice, and the one who reaches it is the Kwisatz Haderach. Which would be awesome.

Yeah, I know what you mean. What the hell do I do with the damn thing? Ask for rent money?

"What do you wish for?" 'I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I would look up at your lifeless eyes and wave, like this.'

I was kinda considering for my character...either take over, topple, or replace the Mages' Association, or do some sort of Instrumentality event. Maybe not a complete Tang event, but more...heh, more like a really integrated magic Facebook or Twitter, possibly with a dash of psychic distributed computing.

For Napoleon...conquer the world, or possibly at least mess with England. Dance on Wellington's grave or something.

And I can certainly see a few motivations for the observers; view the Holy Grail, and study the magics involved, and laugh like hell when the winner gets blowed up.

Actually, more than just it being a relatively small affair with limited combatants, why don't they have teams of research Magi attending the [[strke: Games]] Holy Grail War, studying the thing, maybe observing the technique of the participants, and that sort of thing? (Though, the way my character seems to be developing, the response might be "Because the Mages' Association is a corrupt, decaying institution full of squabbling old *#@%heads.")

By the way, is it some kind of gentleman's agreement that the wars are restricted to the Magnificent Seven and their Servants? Because if it's that valuable, I can see full-scale, or at least small-scale wars being fought, as each Master brings in a bunch of their friends/factions.

And, compulsive as always, I can't seem to stop myself...Fate/Gear Solid: Grail of the Magi "The Holy Grail War has changed...It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by Masters and Servants. The Holy Grail War, and its consumption of life, has become a well-oiled machine. The Holy Grail War has changed. Rune-Inscribed Magi carry Rune-Inscribed weapons, use Rune-Inscribed spells...Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities... And he who controls the Holy Grail, controls Magic."

Oh, no. There's no agreement like that. In fact, throughout Fate Zero, there are instances of Masters using their spouses as a cover (Saber's Master and Lancer's Master come to mind.) In fact, it is rather easy to get it out of control as long as no party violates the Magic Association's golden rule - that the general public does not know about the existence of magic. Otherwise than that, it's usually anything goes.

Yeah, IIRC, in Fate/Zero, Kiritsugu had an associate of his help him, particularly against Lancer's Master.

I'm interested in this, and will tentatively lay claim to Servant Berserker, mostly because I like Tinweasel's bio of Forteuch Seilus. Now, to go find an appropriately Ax-Crazy hero.

I'd suggest Achilles, but..."Ow, my heel.", especially if his identity is known.

Hmm...well, I'm not sure if this would be more or less interesting if it were a larger conflict. It's the waning days of the Mages' Association, and the Xth Holy Grail War finally causes it to split into open warfare.

Alternatively, I'm picturing one or more of the disinterested Magi to stall out the Holy Grail War; "Don't really have a wish worth killing for, don't really want to die, so...Status Quo Is God"

I'm also wondering how far whole Masquerade extends, how do they define general public? And of course, how can you bend the rules? "Shh, it's a secret, magic is real. Pass it on." or, as I joked about in the WMG for Mahou Sensei Negima, have one guy who has no idea magic is real, and call it a Masquerade.

Let's just say that Fate Stay Night starts with one of those "civilians" witnessing a Servant battle and both combatants immediately stop fighting just to kill him. ( But, of course, he doesn't die when he's killed and he turned out to be one of them, so yeah...) Basically, there will be no one who knows who does not need to know. No exceptions.

Alright gadeel I just saved Rider for you.

But, I did some research into Patton and while he does have his training in swordsmanship, it was his role as a commander of Tank brigades what gave him his renown and fame. For that reason I would recommend that you find another hero to play as Rider since tanks aren't right into the setting.

Heh, speaking of my possible Mental Fusion goal, does the Nasu Verse have a magical Anonymous? "It's like 'regular' Anonymous, but it's comprised of young Magi using 4Chant."

Alternatively, summoning the Servant Anonymous, who would probably be Avenger, might be kinda funny.

Part of me is wondering if my character should be a part of the Magical Anonymous, which might make the Mages' Association or the Church into the Church of Scientology.

I'll add in a biography to my master. Once again though, I can pull her out for another character if someone else wants to play. (alternatively, if you want, you could use her)

Velnias Kardas

A female freelance Magus of Lithuanian descent, her ancestors moved to Japan after WWII. Elemental affinity of Metal and Ice, sub-elements of Earth and Water respectively.

20 years old, long Blonde hair, Red eyes (Actually black. She just wears contacts). Mother was Korean though so she has some Asian characteristics in her. 158cm tall, and weighs 100 pounds.

Somewhat of a swordswoman, she has the skill of a black belt (approximately the same as Fujimura Taiga) but mostly specializes in casting spells. She has a 500 year old Thaumaturgical Crest dating back to the Lithuanian Empire. It is located on the palm-side of her left wrist.

She is able to produce low quality swords from pieces of scrap metal from the ground. Kind of like an extremely inferior version of UBW. She mostly uses swords as a catalyst, to focus her spells. Most of them are Single-Action energy shots (Ledai), capable of stunning an average person, and are able to pierce through a piece of cardboard. She can fire up to 30 of them in a minute, however. In general, she can fire around 100 shots before her mana is depleted, however. Still not really useful against most real opponents other than as a distraction. He real talent lies in Ten-count spells, though she doesn't know yet.

She has 20 natural magic circuits, and her crest contains 100. Her Od level is only 100 prana, (still four times as much as the average magus).

She does not practice spellcasting as often as her swords so she is not very skilled with Ledai shots. She practices around once a month, in comparison with sword techniques, practicing at the dojo twice a week.

She lives in a rather middle class house, and her parents are off living in Hawaii making a living for her back at home.

She loves cookies.

Cool. Certainly fits with your avatar.

I'm kinda having a hard time deciding which Servant my character should be Master of. Assassin, maybe? Or if I'm going to be start as a Master.

So far, personality and looks-wise, I'm not sure whether I'd prefer a Moe Moe Meganekko kinda girl, or a Bifauxnen (if that's what you'd call it) Grace Jones kind of character.

It'd certainly be fair to display what I have for a character, but secrecy, deceit, and constant paranoia seems to be a big part of the Holy Grail War, you know?

Hah, I think it's a crippling aftereffect of having a Killer GM when playing Shadowrun; You could never have enough paranoia, secrecy, and deceit to keep them from coming down like a ton of bricks. Which I believe I got killed by, twice.

Goals...like I mentioned before, topple or supplant the Mages' Association, and/or start up some Mental Fusion or Instrumentality.

Maybe we could have different routes in the story. Like play the first playthrough normally, but after it's done, we start again like a new route. People eliminated early last route can get a little more characterization and stuff. I would say 3 routes would be good like in the original game, but 2 routes could work.

Hey, that does sound pretty cool.

Eh, forget secrecy. I should probably as for some help with my character.

Anyway, I'd started out with a the idea of having my character be...well, the magical Nasu Verse equivalent of a geek. Maybe with a gun and some Mystic Eyes.

And then I kept thinking, how about bio-powers; 'aftermarket parts' (so to speak) like besides Mystic Eyes. Auto-surgery, autonomic control, borrowed or artificial magic circuits, and of course, that most Igor-like of traits, "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!". From there, shapeshifting, possibly with a philosophical bent (somewhat reminiscent of Assassin, I guess), "I can be a good approximation of anybody I like, so, who am I?".

I was originally considering the name Igor or Yegor, before I was thinking about shapeshifting 'You can call me Susan if it makes you happy.'. I do like the idea of the Shapeshifter Default Form being some kind of Moe Moe Meganekko girl. Either that or Grace Jones.

Hah, the shapeshifting even fits my current (lack of an) avatar.

I was figuring that to balance this, the character would have relatively wimpy or few magic circuits, even after some...loans. Because of that, they'd probably focus on stealth and have to do most of their spellcasting longterm, through mana, or use various altered objects.

And, of course, the longer I spent thinking about it, the Darker and Edgier it got, to the point where I'm kinda worried about this character turning into Shang Tsung or Sylar.

If I had to pick a personal weapon...a customized suppressed .22 pistol (maybe a Ruger 10/22 Charger or a Walther SP 22), and a butterfly knife. Don't know if they'd be Mystic Codes or not. Not what I'd call a master, but it works for a Back Stab. "Stealth and cunning are better weapons, anyway."

Maybe a Taser, or a similar Mystic Code, to give a Pacifist Run option.

I'm also wondering, what connection do I have with a Servant? Or do I (voluntarily or otherwise) 'borrow' someone's arm and command runes? Hah, too bad Archer is already taken, I'd have the excuse of having at least a .5% chance of being his descendant, with up to 8% if I were from Asia.

Personality-wise...could go either way. Could be Dark Is Not Evil, or become a full-blown humanitarian. I suppose Dark/Light could be the alternate path.

Probably tries to be deliberately mysterious about the past, but...oddly enough, I don't think there'd be much special. Became a weak (magically and politically) Magus, from not particular bloodline. Did a lot of research into the chosen field. Has an ax to grind with The Man. May or may not be currently someone's mentor or someone's student.

I'm trying to think, who would they have as friends, allies, or enemies?

I was considering, though I probably won't use it, the idea, there's always The Igor, and it's the same person, even if they're different or there's more than one at a time. Kinda like the Dread Pirate Roberts.

Man, looking back on this makes me think I've really got to stop thinking about this stuff at 4AM.
