The more we see of Dresden's face on the cover, and the shinier the book is, the darker the books themselves get.
One problem with that : what about White Knight? It is certainly the shiniest (what with the white cover) but far from the most sinister. I'll have to check the covers before I can say anything about the other, though.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Last time I checked, I was #74 in the Holds queue.
There is 1 copy of the book available.
T_T
My library hasn't even gotten it yet. It's On Order.
My copy of changes arrived just yesterday afternoon. I finished it last night.
Holy CRAP!!! And to end it the way he did... Jim Butcher must just enjoy tormenting his readers.
Welcome to the Sea of ChaosYeah. How the hell can someone call THAT ending a crowning moment of heartwarming?. he gets a karmic bullet for his morally dubious actions, though

I just finished reading it. Who thinks that he is really dead?
Insert witty one-liner here.Oh, Harry's clearly dead. The bullet took him right through the heart, without his enchanted duster for protection. He bit the bullet on this one. Doesn't mean he's gonna stay that way, though.
Next book is called Ghost Story. And I read someplace that it was originally called Dead or Death before Executive Meddling.
Or you could wait till the compilation of the short stories comes out. There is going to be a new story called Aftermath that takes place 45min after Changes.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Just finished reading my copy of Changes. Jim Butcher is an evil son of a bitch. Although I have to say, that's one way of getting out of being the Winter Knight...
I'm having to force myself not to highlight the spoilers. Fortunately, the LAPL seems to have gotten some more copies of the book, and with any luck I'll have it within a few weeks.
Of course, the next bit of WMG bait is the "familiar-sounding woman's voice" that Harry hears just after he gets shot. We basically have to accept that, yes, he got killed by it. The next questions are how he comes back, who brings him back (if outside beings are involved), what happens to him while he's dead, and so forth. Put simply, this isn't the end (and it doesn't even take the whole "still got about ten books left in the series" bit to see that).
On another note. How old does everyone think Harry is? There are a couple of mentions in Turn Coat that make me think he was 21-29 as of Storm Front: Luccio says he's "not even forty" (maximum TC age of 39, so max of 28-29 for SF) and he says he already had his PI license when he was Molly's age (she was 17 as of Proven Guilty, add four books, she should be around 21). Any details anyone else can think of to narrow it down?
... it would be an absolutely delicious bit of irony if it was Cassius' Death Curse that brought him back to life, since he was hooking up with Murphy. Given that he was with someone, it wasn't possible for him to "Die alone." at that point, so, poof, no more dying.
As to Harry's age, I'd peg him as about 35- mostly just a hunch, though; he mentions being 'young' when he was with Susan, and he treats Billy the Werewolf and crew, who were just starting college, as being a fair bit younger than him in Fool Moon- if he was twenty six at that point, it would fit.
Hell's bells, guys. I just noticed something important about the last page of Changes. The woman's voice Harry hears can't be his mother. He only says it "sounded familiar". There is no reason for it to "sound familiar": except for the gem holding all his mother's Nevernever experience (which he got that book, and so should have been fresh in his mind), the only other time he heard her voice was during his soulgaze with Thomas... and that memory should have always been fresh, and never merely "familiar".
Why don't we wait until the short story Afterwords comes out in November before making guesses as to the end of Changes. The next 15 min should provide more clues then "a familiar woman's voice".
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!...because that's November. That's half a year away.
I'm 115 in the queue in my library. 8-(
I did just get out the first volume of the Storm Front graphic novel. Welcome to the Jungle was great, so looking forward to it.
Not sure about his age but 24 at the start sounds right.
We all know that he's most likely going to come back somehow. What I want to know is who shot him.
Insert witty one-liner here.I just finished reading Storm Front, and it absolutely blew me away. I cannot wait 'till I can get my hands on the next book...Fool Moon? I can't remember the name at the moment.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Fool Moon is indeed the second book.
However while its not bad I would say that its the weakest of the books. Storm Front was a solid opening piece but (at least in my opinion) the series didn't really find its legs until Summer Knight.
More or less the same thing happened with his other series, the Codex Alera. Furies of Calderon was a bit of a weak start and while Academ's Fury was better the series didn't really 'hit it' until Cursor's Fury.
Welcome to the Sea of ChaosOh, I'm glad to hear the Alera books pick up eventually. I read the first one and thought it was interesting, but wasn't sure I should continue.
I'll also keep that in mind while continuing with this series, Knight. Thanks for hte heads-up
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."
One thing I noticed while buying Small Favor and Turn Coat. Is it just me, or have Harry turned towards the camera more and more on the covers as the books progressed? If I recall, the cover to Changes, you could see his facial features quite clearly. The pictures have been a little brighter lately, but that could be because the editions of the last three books have been very... shiny. I dunno, it just occurred to me.
