I think I have a good outline for a Dresden Files Character page. Mind giving opinions on it? As long as people think it is fine, I will set it up soon and we can all work on moving the character tropes off the main page. Apparently there was one already started, but not linked to the main page. This list of characters and their organization can be joined to that page. Thoughts/opinions?

Harry's household

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, Bob, Mister, Mouse (temple dog)

The White Counsel (and those affiliated)

Morgan, Luccio, Ramirez, Ebenezar Mc Coy, Listens-To-Winds, The Merlin

Characters associated with the church

Sanya, Shiro, Michael Carpenter, The Carpenter Family (Charity Carpenter, Molly)

The Vanpires

Lord Raith, Thomas Raith, Lara Raith, Madrigal Raith

The Denarians

Nicodemus, Lasciel (Lash), Tessa, Deirdre

The Fae/Seelie Court

Titania, Mab, Aurora, Maeve, Lea, The Billy Goats Gruff, Toot-Toot

Other powerfull creatures/people

Corpse-Taker (Wizard), Elaine (Wizard), Victor Sells, The Skinwalker, The Nightmare [[Spoiler:Leonid Kravos]], Chauncey (Demon), He Who Walks Behind (Outsider), Ivy (the Archive), Kincaid (Bad Ass Mercinary), Miss Gard (a Valkyrie), Billy

The "normal-people"

Susan, "Gentleman" Johnny Marcone, Hendricks, Karrin Murphy, Lily [[Spoiler:starts this way, becomes a Summer Queen]], Fix [[Spoiler:starts this way, becomes the Summer Knight]], Butters, Justine, Bobby

If you're going to give Madrigal Raith his own entry, you should probably give one to Lara as well; she has not only a bigger role than her cousin, but is a much more developed character.

Edit: Madrigal Raith is Thomas and Lara's cousin who appears in Proven Guilty and White Night; Lord Raith is their father — I do not recall his first name ever being given.

Spelling is your friend: Carpenter, not Carpender. You got it right for Charity but somehow missed it for the others.

More feedback:

  • If you're going to list Aurora with the Fae, you should probably also include Lily and Maeve.
  • Might as well throw in Fix somewhere as well. Probably under "Other Powerful People."
  • Add Tessa and Deirdre to the Denarians list.
  • Miss Gard is not a normal human—she's a Valkyrie.

Adding those people. (I knew I was missing some)

Miss Gard I was not sure where to put. Yes she is a Valkyrie, but I am not sure what exactly that means.

Dang it! Just tried typing in /Characters/TheDresdenFiles to make sure it would work, and found a page already there. We will need to merge the two or just expand the one there. Going to add a link on the main page to it now.

It means she's a minor goddess. About the same level as an angel.

let me rephrase that: "...I am not sure what that means in Dresden-verse." Yes she has some foreknowledge and other abilities, but I do not remember her using any abilities that are "powerful" compared to the rest of the cast.

I can go ahead and reorganize the names on the existing list as I have them here (probably in folders, not just headers) but I want to get a couple of thoughts/opinions about it first.

Gard's demonstrated abilities:

  • Tough as nails
  • Rune magic (remember the locker at the train station?)
  • Can tell when someone is fated to die

Also, her first name is Sigrun, in case that's important.

Her durability, strength, and other physical qualities are peak human or above. Probably above in the case of durability, as she should really not have been able to survive that gut wound in Small Favor without serious medical attention, super glue be damned, let alone be in condition to fly a helicopter a few days later.

Also, no commentary on Changes yet? What is the spoiler policy? I got it on release day and am itching to discuss it.

Just finished reading Changes myself. Climax and Ending=Crowning Moment of Awesome/Heartwarming that you can't help crying during. Or whenever you think about it.

To put it simply, the end of Half Blood Prince has got NOTHING on those events. (I guess YMMV on this but...)

Also, I think it is about time to split the books up on the main page or at least make sure all the character ones are moved off. It's getting a bit long.

Need more Dresden Files. I've been working my way through the books, and I finished White Night a little while ago  *

now I just need to get to the local niche bookstore to pick up some more. I'm not sure if they've got Changes yet, but they're usually quick with that stuff. Gotta read Small Favor and Turn Coat first anyway.

Read them in order, definitely. Some of the later books won't make nearly as much sense, otherwise.

Also, try to track down the short stories. They're really good, though I wouldn't want to get the whole anthology just for one story. They're not really plot-critical, but they do provide extra information and are occasionally referenced in the main plotline.

It's where Miss Gard was first revealed to be a Valkyrie, the werewolves get married, and I never would have guessed Father Forthill was Inquisition D:.

Wikipedia says that the short-stories will be available in a collection come November this year. This is good news for me grin

^Relevant? You call that merely RELEVANT? I call that RIGHT ON THE MONEY!

Lets see. We got an opening that is more epic then the first couple of books combined, more things to go under Crapsack World by the half way point (not to mention the property destruction by then), a climax that is his normal epicness taken Up To Eleven while setting us up for a Downer Ending that we could see coming from a mile away, and... OK not going to think about the last page... NEED! NEXT! BOOK! NOW!!!11BBQ

Belian is right. We need it now. The agony of waiting for the next one is killing me.

After listening to the dicks, pussies and assholes monologue in Team America, I could think about one thing only: "You are what you eat."

You know, I was a little grumpy when reading the book, because I had accidentally been spoiled for some of the later revelations by this wiki.

Still didn't expect that ending.

^^...and we don't "need the next book NOW" to find out what happens next so much as to explain the HSQ of what just happened. (anyone want to reread the series and make a HSQ scale for it?...I do now)

^After the first couple of spoilers I inadvertently saw on my "watchlist" history, I stopped looking at any Dresden Files updates. Managed to avoid most of it.

Also, I think a policy of "spoiler"ing everything for the first 2-3 pages or one month (whichever comes first) would be a good idea.

That gives people who are current with the series, but slow at picking up the newest book, time to get it/read it/discuss it on here while reading and not be spoiled.

I have reserved Changes through the L.A. Public Library system.

Last time I checked, I was #74 in the Holds queue.

There is 1 copy of the book available.
