So are we playing the characters in canon or our own owns? Or ourselves?
You play yourself. There aren't any set roles, I'm thinking I use the same random generator to give people weapons. Basically, the same outside forces are involved, but the path the story takes varies based on your decisions.
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...I'm not too good at R Ping myself, but I guess that's the point where I just make up a realistic character and pretend?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking the hobbits to Isengard.
Do the best you can. Just base your character off of how you think you'd react.
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...Can I join?
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOII'll join if you don't have enough people.
Yes! Yes! By all means, join!
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...I'm afraid I've only seen the Peter Jackson Movies (though I did read the first five chapters of the book at one point, but that's all before Rivendell...)
Is that okay?
Also, do we make up our names, or use our Troper tags/usernames?
AKA, am I automatically E.H.Grayson if I play this?
My new account at: EventuaThat's your decision. I'm going to use my real name.
And it's cool if you haven't read the books. That makes it more fun!
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...Ah, okay... in that case, I'll be using a pseudonym. Wouldn't want to tell you all my real name, just in case yer all PEDOPHILES!1!!1!!11
You may all call me Edward H. Grayson...
I'm not sure, will we become Hobbits/Elves/Dwarves etc, or do we get to choose? Or, uh, are we all just human?

My new account at: EventuaSounds interesting.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Just a note, I've seen the extended cut of the movies only. Haven't seen the regular film edition, nor read the books.
^^No, we're playing humans. Less-than-normal humans in the case of some (like whoever gets to bring down divine vengeance upon the Balrog), but humans.
^ That's fine. I only watch the extended cuts, and I can PM you book-related info.
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...I'm interested. For all intents and purposes, sign me up.
Call me Lord Larsa.

Requiem ~ September 2010 - October 2011 [Banned 4 Life]I would like to be considered.
Something occured to me! I, uh...
Well, for the simple reason that I abhor violence and warfare, even when it's 'justified', I can't quite accurately play this, because if I did, I'd arrive at Rivendell, and then just head west until the war was over.
Thus, I can't play myself accurately. So, I will, if allowed, do the next best thing: I will play a marginally altered version of myself.
Still hates violence and avoids it wherever possible, but feels it's sometimes necessery, and thus will fight if the Orcs can't be reasoned with...
My new account at: EventuaWhatever you feel is necessary.
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...Thanks very much! ^_^
So, uh, there're 8 players now? Just one more person needs to join! Hooray!
My new account at: EventuaYep! Come on, somebody! Join!
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...I has one more question!
When we arrive, is it a case of us actually being from Earth and thus knowing about Lord of the Rings?
Or, uh, are we native, 'alternate versions'? Or, uh, are we just ourselves but ignorant of what's to come?
My new account at: EventuaI'm debating that. It would be cool to have all of our prior knowledge, because then we could try to change things, but on the other hand not knowing is sometimes better.
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...I would say not knowing is better. Half the fun is figuring out.
Btw considering joining.
My other signature is a Gundam.Okay, that means that if Neobowman is still interested in coming along we've got all nine!
Now I'm freedom unbound, cut the laces of life...sounds fun, I'm in
What would you do if you were given the chance?
Imagine that all of a sudden, you were torn from your home and dumped unceremoniously into a world you knew very well, but had never experienced. Imagine that you, with all of your skills and prior knowledge, became a member of the Fellowship. Imagine that you and eight strangers had to save the world.
If you couldn't guess, this is a bit different from your typical RP. You're not playing a character. You're playing yourself, complete with all your weaknesses. You're on a mission with eight people you've never met before, and you'll have to learn to get along in order to survive.
There aren't any set rules; things will happen to you exactly as in the books but you control the outcome. Just because Aragorn dueled Lurtz to the death doesn't mean you have to. To that end, I'm using a modified Roll-To-Dodge as template for determining all encounters. Since the mooks we're fighting are NP Cs, we're going to deal with battles with 4-6 as victory and 1-3 as defeat. If both get the same score I'll roll again. If you win, I'll PM you and let you decide how you want your Crowning Moment Of Awesome win to go.
I need at least eight people. We can have some play NP Cs later on, or I can play them all, or we can split them. You don't have to be a die-hard Tolkien fan to play, since I'm probably crazy enough for all of us, though it's definitely appreciated.
And now the question you're all wondering: who's going to be the Ringbearer? Well, once everyone's signed up I'll assign everyone a number from 1 to 9, then use a random number generator to decide who gets the Ring. We'll begin in Rivendell, with the Bearer awakening from his/her Nazgul attack.
Enjoy, and please join!
