On a somewhat related, but still off topic note, my sister did not know what Soylent Green was made of.

On an on topic note I'm almost done downloading Sharin no Kuni.

So I've resumed playing this game and finished up to Natsumi's arc. Here are my comments up to this point:

  • Sachi is my favorite heroine out of the three of them. I picked her as Kenichi's love interest as well. I find her to be a very interesting character, plus her "obligation" is easy to relate to, at least for me. I absolutely love the twist at the end of her route, since I was expecting that she'd finish the painting. It was really well-played.
  • Touka didn't hold me interested that much. It's not like I didn't like her route, but it's more like it's a little underwhelming compared to Sachi's arc. Kenichi's interaction with Touka and Kyouko was rather amusing, though, which is a pretty good point.
  • Natsumi's arc, oh god. So many emotions all at once that I felt like I'd burst at each turn. It's depressing, heartwarming and disgusting all at the same time, and I love it for doing that. Having picked Sachi as the love interest, she gets a pretty cool moment of character in Natsumi's arc. I really, really love how they revealed just how fucked up their society is in this arc, and it's really satisfying to see Houzuki get outmatched by Natsumi.

Long story short, I love this game. It's different from G Senjou No Maou, but it's every bit as excellent. Still have one more arc to go, I think, and maybe check out the epilogues for each heroine.

I saw this mentioned in the G-Senjou thread, and thought that it would be best to mention it here. There is a complete patch of the fan disk here. It was made with the completed translation on the TL Wiki by some anon. I should warn you that everything not on the main path lacks word wrapping.

Already did that. I found a step by step instruction set let's see if this works...

I'm closer than I was before, but still no dice.

I'm closer as in some parts are now running a little bit and some of it is in English. It's just erroring out the yen yang.

Ahh the patch you linked earlier was not a complete patch. I had another one sitting around and once I replaced it with the complete one it worked just fine.

So I'm finally starting.

Ok so anyone know how to get speakers working in Japanese local? Mine won't and that's real irksome because the game won't run unless I do that and I like having speakers.

Well, if you have windows XP or something like that you can get Applocale and not have to change your ACTUAL locale.

I have 7. Does Applocale work for that?

Nope. Why don't your speakers work with a Japanese locale?

Great question I have no idea. I can't find anyone else who has that problem either.

And yes I did check to see that it wasn't just the game that didn't have sound.

Ugh this game is being a large hassle and one I'm running out of time to fix today.

Maybe I'll come back from work and it will work. Sometimes that happens.

After I decided to change my locale back from Japanese, I had to use Applocale on my Windows 7 machine to play Japanese VNs and doujin games. I think you have to fiddle with the installation a little bit. Got to dig up the instructions somewhere...

EDIT: Didn't read your post clearly enough, it seems. If it's an audio problem, not a text one, I'm not sure how Applocale will help. You mentioned a problem with the .xp3 files; if I remember correctly, there was a patch that you had to copy over to the game directory. And also another NoDVD patch, I think.

Man this guy is crazy and is constantly trolling.

That's without the pot. Which I hope to see him smoke. I think it was pot. Whatever drugs.

Who hires like a five year old to run a store? Ignoring the legality that just doesn't seem like it would work.

I think Mana is around ten. And yeah, Kenichi is hilarious unless he's with Natsumi, at which point he becomes all boring.

You're right he instantly becomes much less entertaining when she's around.

Was the underwear in his case as a diversion?
