Why do we have this trope? Because it's a trope, and that's what we do — collect and catalogue tropes? And since it's "cartoon animals and insects have eyes that look much more like human eyes than the eyes of the animal they belong to", how and why should it be extended to human cartoons?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The name indicates that's it's primarily focused around both Cartoons and eyes, no mention of animals. If you can show misuse (specifically, use to refer to both animals and humans with Cartoony Eyes) you have grounds for a rename to something like Cartoony Animal Eyes.
Fight smart, not fair.I guess I don't see the point of pointing out where animals are animated unrealistically when the human characters aren't any better. Come on, Up is on the page, where everything is animated cartoony? How you going to point out the dogs eyes when its nose is obviously more off?

Cartoony Eyes why do we have this trope? Never mind that it extends just as much to human characters as it does to animals, if not more to human characters?
