But it doesn't look like a drill. It just looks like a lance.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickBut it's all spirally.
I have a message from another time...That just looks like a stylistic choice for a lance to me.
Jet-a-Reeno!Yeah. And he doesn't even use it as a lance; he fires beams from it.
The watermarked picture is from either Episode 21 or 22, and it doesn't count because the drill was firing a beam.
It should be obvious that Lagann is wielding the drills, given the expression on its face and position of the drills. The image contains too many beams, though.
If you must have one from Gurren Lagann, have one of the following:
- The two smaller drills on Gurren-Lagann's wrist. Those are never used as tunneling implements.
- Before the Giga Drill Break, with many smaller drills everywhere.
- Giga Drill Maximum, though that contains far too many beams.

Oh, see, I hadn't seen that image before, so I assumed it wasn't all beam-y.
Anyway.
Oh hey, I actually uploaded that one. Here we go.

Pity there are no good screenshots from Slumber Party Massacre. It's a slasher flick and the killer uses a cordless drill with a two-foot long bit...
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Well, the main problem with that is that it's too hard to see Gurren. Otherwise, it's very recognizable as a weapon.
Also, TTGL is the page picture for:
- Camp Gay
- Decoy Protagonist
- Ms. Fanservice
- Sissy Villain
- Perverse Sexual Lust
- Triangle Shades (sort of)
...Maybe it is over-represented.
I like the Big Daddy picture; Gurren Lagann is good example of the trope, but none of the pictures so far are as clear as the Big Daddy image.
Reaction Image RepositoryGurren-Lagann Vs. Captain Falcon. You see the drill, you see who is using it, you see it being used, and bonus Captain Falcon.
I wholeheartedly support a Horn Drill picture. Just not that one.

That looks like a horn and not a weapon. I still like the Big Daddy.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAction lines show spinning, though.
I have a message from another time...I swear I saw an image of it being used as a weapon, with spirally speed lines.
Yes, I too support Big Daddy, but there are very few pictures of that drill in action.
Maybe a screenshot from Bioshock 2, as the player attacks something?

Well, if we want spiraling speed lines, there's still this version of the Giga Drill Breaker rev-up. Though I prefer the non-moving version to that, and the piecture of it just before the giant drill is produced over those two, due to it more clearly showing the figure of the robot itself.

^^^^ That image you posted of Big Daddy has no enough focus on the drill itself, I think. Sure, it is there, sure you can see it clearly. But all the rest of the robot can be seen better.
That image would work, but we have so many others I don't see the point.
From TTGL my favorite is this◊ (cropping the right, but it may be too small). This◊ may work too (the image will be better when properly resized).
From other works I say either this◊ or this◊.
Btw, there is no good image of a human(oid) guy using a drill? All I've seem here is robots and pokémons.
^ Kinda hard to say it is a drill.

^ Yeah I don't like that one too much myself. Just posted it again when speed lines were brought up.
I have a message from another time...The blood completely obscures the drill part of the drill.
Ya have to be looking to (fail to) see it.
I have a message from another time...Yeah. I can only know there is a drill 'cause it would be weird if there isn't any. At first I thought it was behind the blood, until I noticed it was supposed to be in the right arm.
I think we're discovering the hard way that you can never see a drill in action because it's always inside something...
That image would be awesome if it was not for the cute girl in the front.
For a simple approach. Maybe keeping simpler is better? Why not go for something without excess of awesome?
For double reference. Because this is way too cool. (the other weapons may be distracting, though)

What about the old image for Mecha Anime? That had a drill-wielding robot on it. All I remember was that it looked awesome. It really did.
^They aren't clearly drills.

Edit:
Ah, now this one is more like it. It's even obvious that the drill is intended as a weapon, seeing as it's being held like a lance.
