Well Adventure Island was Hudson, which makes it all the stranger. Maybe it's a cultural thing.
Non-AVGN: 'Creed III review:
On an unrelated note, I was reading that Kieran left Screenwave? I am not sure if this is legit because it came from Cinemassacre Truth so I wanted to hear if there's a reliable source.
I never heard anything about it. If so, that sucks. I thought he was the most likeable of the Screenwave crew.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationA follow-up to the "Making an AVGN Episode" from 2011: Writing an AVGN Script:
Of note, Earthworm Jim will be the next episode! Hoping he covers 3D.
(Non-AVGN) Super Mario Bros. vs. The Sonic Movies:
So I mildly enjoyed the two Sonic movies when I first saw them, but I've felt no need to re-watch either one- meanwhile I am very interested in re-watching the Mario movie when it's released on digital, to catch the easter eggs I didn't see the first time. Plus it was a lot more faithful to the games than the Sonic movies, and wasn't burdened by live action sequences. EDIT: And yes, Mario had the better score (though I disagree with James about the licensed songs).

The Earthworm Jim episode. For the first game in the trilogy he covers the regular edition; I had a PC version of the game which was apparently the "special" edition which had more levels, namely a second chapter in the New Junk City stage where Jim didn't have his suit and had to slither his way across a massive slide labyrinth to the New Junk City foreman (the regular version had him placed immediately after the sentient garbage can boss).

I was never really into the Earthworm Jim tv series, but Dan Castelleneta didn't sound like the right fit for Jim.
Heck, I think his voice in Sonic For Hire fits more.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationHonestly, not one of the better episodes. It was a pretty dry listing of what was in the games, and there are a bunch of nitpicks I have with it ("Ride of the Valkyries" was not the song used in What the Heck). Plus he didn't tackle the various ports of the game, especially the GBA ones which are pretty poor quality. Comedy-wise, the only scene that sorta works is when the Nerd attempts to put the smashed cart back together and it strangely still works when he puts it back in (in-universe, of course).
Wonder what the June AVGN is gonna be? Mike mentioned he supplied video game footage for it.

Do you think James Rolfe will make a video about his top 10 fact mistakes in AVGN episodes?
I can think of a few - claiming that the N64 Castlevania game lacked any music, claiming that "Power of Love" wasn't present in the Back to the Future NES game during his revisited review of it, and mixing up "Night on Bald Mountain" with "Ride of the Valkyries" from the Earthworm Jim review.

Anything's possible I suppose, but self-deprecation is more Doug's territory. James has done a few ("You gotta do it all over again. All over again.") but not as much.
There was also one of his very earliest flubs: 7-11 Spot.

A video I've never seen before, but is apparently from 2008. A "Chronologically Confused" video on the AC/DC albums.
I've seen that one.
I don't know if this is just a crazy glitch or not, but I tried to do a youtube search typing in "avgn plumbers" (looking for the Plumbers don't wear ties episode), and this caused all episodes that came up under search to lose their current thumbail artwork and be replaced with a random frame from the video (which is kinda how early search results were).
It only does this if you search "avgn plumbers" not anything else.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationNext Nerd is looking to be Indiana Jones themed, if this tweet is any clue. I'm guessing it'll either be Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine or Instruments of Chaos (he previously played both on James & Mike Mondays). Other possibilities: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for Genesis, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for Wii. He shouldn't touch Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb though because that game's actually pretty good.

Most memorable (frustrating) water levels.
This one felt really phoned in, TBH.

New AVGN - as expected, it's a bunch of Indy games:
I think James needs to regroup. This wasn't funny at all. Also the gameplay in the flashback scenes was giving me a headache.
A few moments made me laugh. I was kinda impressed he was able to recreate his 2007-08 room. No idea how he managed that. It looked too good to be green screen.
I... didn't really get the ending. At first I thought maybe it's because I haven't seen Dial Of Destiny yet. But then I remembered that film is coming out today so how could this episode reference anything from that?
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationI haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I understand, the prerelease material mentions that the villain wants to use the titular dial, which is said to be able to change history, to undo the mistakes of his past, so the Nerd likewise messing with his dial changes the past (i.e. past Nerd's opinion changes from positive to negative) and since the changes resulted in past Nerd dying, present Nerd is RetGoned as a result.
According to a comment he posted on the video, the gameplay footage was degraded in editing to make it look like his older videos.

I get that, but I think that was unnecessary, because even the older episodes didn't have the filters present here.
James and John play Pokemon Snap.
aka one the best Pokémon spin off games
New theme music also a boxSorta off-topic but it relates to AVGN because he reviewed it: I'm re-reading an old back issue of Game Players and came across this hilarious-in-hindsight letter:
"I have recently purchased a new Tiger hand-held game. I have about 20 in my awesome collection. I am currently saving up for a new R-Zone game, which I think is Tiger's best invention."
Pfffff

Rex Viper has a new YouTube channel and is working on an album.
James also tweeted that a new AVGN episode is coming soon.

The farming skit had a lot of effort put into it.
And yeah…what was it with eggplants back in the day? Did someone at Nintendo just hate eggplants?
Disgusted, but not surprised
