Ditto, but I'd imagine having a big music star like Weird Al as part of the main cast made MML very expensive to produce, and thus Disney was very weary about giving it another season.
While Weird Al is a notable musician, I don't think he's big enough to be unaffordable for animation (he's done many voiceover roles over the years after all). It did have an audience, but it wasn't enough to have it continue. Even someone like me, an avid Phineas and Ferb fan, only enjoyed some moments while it didn't click with me as a whole. This video by Keyan Carlile is a great articulation of the show's fundamental problems that go beyond just Disney having little faith in it.
I have seen some ask if a renewal was necessary. But I have felt like it was clear Dan and Swampy wanted to go back and do more for a while. From them putting Phineas and Ferb elements into Milo Murphy's law. The new movie, where they even drop the 'Other nonsense coming soon' line in Candace's opening song.
I feel it was fairly clear that they wanted to do more with Phineas and Ferb. Granted, I kind of would have preferred spinoffs as opposed to a direct new season. Sense Doof 101 and Tales from the resistance both seemed to basically be backdoor pilots for potential ones. And looked like they had great potential too.
The First manhey maybe they focus on the identity of Phineas's father!
New theme music also a boxIn retrospect, the sone “We’re Back” from Candace Against The Universe does feel like it’s describing a continuation, not just a one-off.
SoundCloudAccording to Variety, co-creator Jeff "Swampy" Marsh is also coming back to helm the revival.
“Swampy is one of the brightest creators in animation and among his many passions is connecting and collaborating with creative people, whether it’s through writing, animation design, directing, music or acting,” said Meredith Roberts, executive vice president of Television Animation at Disney Branded Television. “He continually elevates their artistry, as well as his own, to tell the bigger and more entertaining stories for global audiences. We’re thrilled to be continuing our partnership and look forward to a long and exciting road ahead.”
Marsh also has the preschool animated series “Hey A.J.” currently in production for Disney Junior. That show is based on the book series of the same name by Martellus Bennett. Marsh is executive producing via Surfing Giant Studios. Bennett and Michael Hodges also executive produce.
Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe will be it television debut on April 8th on Disney Channel
Surprised its taken them this long to be honest
New theme music also a boxA youtube video popped up in my recommendations and lead me to a list of titles for some episodes of season 5. It looks official, but at this point things would be subject to change, so take it all with a grain of salt.
One title that stands out to me and I’m sure all of us here is Tropey McTropeface.

SoundCloudYep, the EIDR is definitely official, albeit subject to change.
Very curious what Agent T (For Teen) is about, and if it's related to Stacy knowing about OWCA.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah, that's just one of many plot developments I feel were wasted due to being set up too close to the end of the original run that I hope will be addressed.
SoundCloudSo will this be set in the next summer. Or a few years later.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Seems to be the next summer. Candace turned 15 the first summer, she’ll be 16 the new summer, which is old enough to get a driver’s license in most of the US, and “License to Bust” sure would be a fitting title for such an episode.
SoundCloudThey announced it'd take place in the summer after the original show.
I'm glad they did it, it was really weird that Candace against the universe was, like, a midquel.
I love Phineas and Ferb but I am sad the creators have zero faith in their shows standing on their own and become "The characters from Phineas and Ferb and those other nobodies I guess" Sure the characters are not worth a cry, they are boring and for the life of me I could NEVER not be immediately bored to death by Milo Murphy's Law and its cast, but part of me is glad Disney just let P&B continue instead.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Well, for one, it's not the creators having no faith in their characters, it was Disney. Just look at the advertising that Milo got. Oh wait, there's nothing to look at. Not to mention the cliffhanger with over a year hiatus.
SoundCloudTbf the show has a bunch of issues. That was outlined by Keyan Carlile
- It's not just poor advertising.
We also had
- Debuting on Disney xd which in general just had lower ratings than normal disney
- The show being super forgettable. As noted. It's just way more bland.
- It also has to really rely on Phineas and Ferb rather than be it's one thing. Some of 7t was great as Doofensmertz and perry's stuff is legit great. But it can often feel like a crutch
Funny, I felt adding Doofenshmirtz to the main cast in season 2 weakened the show.

SoundCloudNah on its own it was fine as Clarlie noted. But it also detracted horribly from the actual main cast as he notes. Which was a huge issue.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I'm just gonna agree to disagree.
On a separate note, it seems likely the new season is getting set up slightly by Hamster & Gretel. In the latest episode, the Villain of the Week bought an inator from Doofenshmirtz. At the end of Phineas Season 4, as we all know, Doofenshmirtz made a Heel–Face Turn which lasted through his time on Milo Murphy's Law. But they need him in a villainous role again for season 5, so I wonder if they'll go into detail on his relapse.

SoundCloudSince Doof was evil in the Halloween and Christmas specials, they basically said that he relapsed into evil a few times, presumably explaining his role in the new season.
I think he did fully retire at least by the time of act you age. But it seems an in and off thing
Granted. I would like if they did something new with Doof. It would have been cool to the see the super spy thing.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."They should at least keep OWCA intern Vanessa. I'd also like if they actually kept the Monty thing going because I'm more interested in and comfortable with that than Ferb and Vanessa as endgame.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Considering Act Your Age clearly showed Ferb/Vannessa was a thing in the future, I doubt they're gonna bring back Vanessa/Monty unless some time shenanagains are at play.
Not saying it's a bad idea, but what more could they do for a revival? Either they'd have to have it take place before the Last Day of Summer finale keep the formula or they'd have to make big changes with Candace and Doofenshmirtz's developments. Personally, I think Milo Murphy's Law would've been the better Dwampy show candidate for a revival.
