As north from good springs seems to dangerous for my taste, I decide that I should check out the road south, past Primm. I see on my map that south of Primm is an intersection, and from there I can either turn right and head to Nipton where I heard my checkered suit attacker was heading, or I can turn left and head to the Mojave Outpost, where NCR has some people stationed. Not sure where I want to go exactly, I decide to head to the intersection and make my decision there.

Things are going well until I reach the Nevada Highway Patrol station, about halfway to the crossroads from Primm where some more convicts attack me along with some humanoid thing that looks like it was exposed to radiation far to long. They don't prove to be to challenging to deal with, but the surprise of the zombie looking thing was enough to get me hurt fairly bad. Luckily I have enough medical supplies to get me back on my feet.

Inside the building I find that the convicts have been using this place as some sort of place to keep people they've kidnapped, though their one victim that was in the cage when I got there was already long dead. Without anything else to do there, I continue my trip south on the i15.

When I finally reach the crossroads, I take a look at what I can see. Just near the cross roads is what looks to be a gas station, and as that happens to be on the right side of the road, my eyes were quickly drawn to the road west. Further along the road up a hill were two large statues that from here didn't seem that old and more new. But with all the sand in the air it was rather hard to tell. They might have just been made to last.

To the east though, I couldn't see much, other than one single landmark. A windmill rotated in the wind. With my eyes adjusted to that distance, I could see what looked to be buildings much closer that I would have missed had I not seen the windmill. Among the group of buildings I could just make out what appeared to be a water tower.

Being the nearest of the structures I decided to check out the gas station first. Nearing it though, I could see a number of scorpions crawling about that hadn't yet seen me, and things got much more worrisome. I had been figuring the gas station would have more convicts in it or perhaps a traveling trader, but no it turns out to be scorpions. God I hate scorpions. And just when I'm at the point where I'm thinking about slowly and carefully turning back and letting the creatures keep the place, one of them sees me and starts to rush towards me. Then they all see me and all start to rush towards me. These though are smaller scorpions (though still large) and I'm able to take out two of them when I run out of shot gun ammo. Still with plenty of rifle ammo though I head back in to take out the remaining two.

Inside the gas station, I find a page from someone's journal that indicates he was in cahoots with members of the Legion and was trying to get NCR in a fight with the Powder Gangers so that the Legion could then come and wipe them both out. From there I found myself following a number of wrecked cars that seemed to make their way toward the two statues in the distance, and I realized that I had already made my decision on what direction to go from the crossroads without even really thinking about it at all.

Nearing the statues I saw them to be made from scrap metal, and noticed a plaque informing me the bait about the history of the area in regards to the Desert Rangers and NCR. Not to interesting really. It did mark the start of the Mojave Outpost though.

Inside the Outpost I find a number of leads on work that I'll get to in a moment. For now I want to point out that when I stepped into their main building, it was a Major Knight that greeted me and was filling out paper work. I don't know about you, but doesn't it seem a Major would have something else to do than do such tedious stuff? It could be that they are just short on men, so he doesn't have the luxury of having someone do this for him, but still I find it odd that a Major would be doing the work he was doing. At least I was able to get my equipment repaired after filling out a number of forms and what not.

As for work, I heard a lead that the Crimson Caravan might need someone, but they are way up north past death claw territory and I don't have a really good route to reach them right now. Someone else is willing to provide some equipment if I can kill some of the critters along the road making things safer for caravans, and from the looks of where he indicated on my map of where he wants me working, I would be dealing with more scorpions. Lastly the town lookout had seen smoke or something coming from Nipton and wanted me to go check it out.

What I think I'll do is go clear out the critters and what not, as it is on the way, and if I still have the energy I'll then go to Nipton and recon the area over there. For now though I'm going to get some sleep before heading out as I'll likely need a good nights rest so I'm thinking clearly.

Went to play some more Fallout today, to find out that steam is currently downloading an update for New Vegas. While steam claims that the update is only 282.5 MB, something tells me that this update could take all day.
