Okay, I really need to know the time. I'm leaning towards Wednesday afternoon/evening, for a max of four hours. (It shouldn't take that long, but just in case. I'm sure you know how these things go sometimes.) Does this not work for anyone?

What's your time zone? I know that Glenn Magus Harvey and I are both GMT -4, and between the two of us, I think 9:00 PM in our time zone was ideal.

I just want to be sure that your afternoon/evening isn't too many hours ahead of us or behind us (or others who would play, for that matter).

As for posting my character stats, are there any specific details I ought to leave out for now, or do I post every single thing?

I'm EST, so GMT -4. I guess I should go for 3 hours max then.

And you don't have to post everything, just a basic character block is fine.

Would that time on, say, Friday be alright instead? On Wednesdays I wouldn't be home between around 6 and 8:30 or so (pacific/forum time, or 9-11:30 PM eastern).

[up][up] What constitutes "basic?" I understand that stuff like eye color and hair color can be left out, but should I put stuff like, for example, Spell Save Mod, or should I only put independent values (abilities, items, and such)?

[up] Would Thursday work? I usually go to my dad's house on Fridays, and it would be pretty tough (possible, but tough) to work around it.

How much money do we start with again?

Everest: my Sorcerer is evil in the "immoral, crazed necrophiliac" sort of way

Your sorceror had better giggle at the thought of watching mallard duck necrophilia in an gallery of fine arts.

Kuro Fox: Imma thinking I would use the character I make now for any later campaigns, so what is a good starting class if I wanted to later make a Magic Knight? Bard that prestiges to an Eldritch Knight sound good, flexible? I'd want to have a decent level of competence and not a be a Master Of None.

Sounds like what I was thinking about eight years ago when I first made a character (though I think that was a 3.0 character—not much difference, though).

Funnyguts: I'm EST, so GMT -4. I guess I should go for 3 hours max then.

FWIW, EST is GMT-5. EDT is GMT-4, but the standard/daylight switch may differ based on the country.

So I'm going ahead with a Human Duskblade. Though I got my stuff written down on my laptop. So I'll post them later.

It's still incomplete though, since I'm deciding on skills and feats. And then on name and such. Been busy with life and stuff.

Theres this feat that sounds... Interesting. Lets me use my DEX modifier instead of STR on light weapons like rapiers. While not perhaps optimal, sounds handy if I swapped my race to Elf and my STR and DEX with each other. I could still use the arcane channeling to my weapon and have higher AC... But that might bite back hard once I get better weapons, so it might be a bad idea if I actually go long term with the character. On later levels I could increase weapon profiency and add the improved critical feat too... But that's at the cost of Metamagic feats and that sounds bad.

Though higher AC isn't a Duskblade thing. They're made for killing things, not tanking. But thought I might throw that out there if it was even remotely a good idea as I thought.

Also, for anyone who doesn't have dice, heres a good online one. It even has an option to roll 4d6 and ignore the lowest die. Just type in 4l6 and hit roll! Got my ability scores that way.

Also, here's a place you can play by post, organize games, find other players, and more, and most importantly:

Post your characters online, using their character sheet system. They currently support the following systems:

  • D&D 3rd edition, 3.5, and 4th edition
  • d20 Modern
  • d20 Star Wars
  • Serenity
...and they're working on a Pathfinder sheet.

This place is The Tangled Web.

Example of a character sheet I've made there: http://www.thetangledweb.net/forums/profiler/view_char.php?cid=17497

It looks like the rest of the party is fairly squishy—though not as bad as it could be—so I just threw together two tanky types (one which can heal, has slightly higher AC and an ability that makes it harder to hit anyone but him; the other which does more damage and has slightly more HP and which seems like it might be more fun to play but I'm not sure). Don't know which one I'll choose, but voodoo and music and such beckons; I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Umm, I need a name. Also age and height and... Augh.

Well, height is probobly 6 feet, very tall adult human male. As a Duskblade his build should include some muscle, but lets keep it compact instead of incredibly buff. (However lets not go 100% by the letter for that trope!) Something along slim and muscular, so what would be the weight for that? (I probobly fail biology since I don't know...)

Age? Well, I find it ridicilous how Dn D says Humans reachign adulthood at the age of 15, but I guess the target demograph is teenagers so it's kind ofa Power Fantasy. ANYHOW. What is the average starting character age for a Lv1 human? I'll go with that.

Names names names... Arrrrgh! My downfall! I'm no good with them!

Background... Eh I was thinking of something along a nobleborn, self taught adventurer who set out to the world for the thrill of it as the noble life generally bored him. This was not taken very well by most of his family though so he possibly never speaks of them. So he never uses his family name either and goes only by his first name, or maybe an alias. He enjoys seeing new places and learning new things and seeks to increase his knowledge and power.

Neutral Good, he does what he sees is the right thing to do.

Also gonna use that Tangled Web character sheet. Seems handier than the notepad thing I've been working on.

Alright, here is my guy. (I rolled my stats with physical dice; hope that's alright.) Still might need a little fine tuning. Finalized!

Are we rolling for hit points at 1st level? (The games I've been in have had max HP at first level; I forget if in 3.5 that's an actual rule or not. It sounds like a good idea, though.)

Sir Eames the Sky, Knight of the Open Way
Neutral Good Human Crusader

HP: 12/12
Delayed Damage: 0/5
AC: 17

Abilities:

  • Str 14
  • Con 15
  • Wis 10
  • Dex 12
  • Cha 14
  • Int 14

Feats: Improved Initiative, Stone Power

Languages: Human, Dwarf, Goblin

Skills:

  • Diplomacy 4 (+6)
  • Intimidate 4 (+6)
  • Balance 4 (+5)
  • Ride 4 (+5)
  • Jump 4 (+6)
  • Concentrate 4 (+6)
  • Knowledge (history) 4 (+6)

Maneuvers (2/5 granted at beginning of combat):

  • Crusader's Strike (melee attack; if it hits, heal 1d6+1 HP to myself or an ally within 10 feet)
  • Charging Minotaur (charge and a bull rush; if the bull rush succeeds additional 2d6 + 2 damage)
  • Douse the Flames (melee attack; if it hits, target can't make attacks of opportunity for 1 round)
  • Stone Bones (melee attack; if it hits, gain DR 5/adamantine for 1 round)
  • Leading the Attack (melee attack; if it hits, allies get +4 to attack rolls against the target for 1 round)

Stance:

  • Iron Guard's Glare (enemies I threaten take -4 to hit allies)

Equipment:

  • Chain Shirt
  • Heavy Steel Shield (spiked)
  • Longsword
  • Adventurer's kit
  • 10 GP

Backstory:
On a journey, his parents were saved by an order known as the Knights of the Open Way; they vowed to give their first-born son to become one of them. As such, from an early age Eames was trained in combat and instilled with the belief that protecting travelers and keeping roads open and safe was a sacred duty. He took to this belief so fervently that it enabled him to manifest nigh-supernatural powers in combat. After a brave defense of a caravan ambushed on the wide-open plains, he earned the title "the Sky" for being able to cover people in any circumstances.

Make an account, and you can save your rolls, to be verified.

If you use the name "test", your stats will be deleted in a day or so. If you were logged–in, you could put a campaign name here.

Apparently, you don't actually need an account. All you need to have is the link and something in the character name box that's not "test".

The 3.5 rules say you get your hit dies maximum HP for first level, before modifiers. Also no matter how crummy your CON, you will always gain a minimum of 1HP per level.

I put my character's stats and backstory onto a Tangled Web character sheet, like so, in case we use it. Now I just need a note page for his spells so that I don't have to flip through the Player's Handbooks. Then I'll be all set.

Yeah, maybe... But what is a name to do with alignment, eh? But I guess I could roll with something less grim doomy warrior guy sounding.

Hmmm, hows Ronan? Neutral enough? Or maybe Randor?
