Since the game involves representatives of real life countries some of which are in conflict right now (and have been for years), I guess he's hesitant about people connecting what's happening now to whatever he has planned for Ciconia. But I am sure he was already aware of this beforehand...

Since phrase 1 is still being I think the rest of the game should at least be finished instead of having everyone buy a game that will never get done.

I'm sure Covid happening also made the prospect of writing a story about humanity getting wiped out a huge bummer.

As an aside, Ryukishi's art in Ciconia id much more detailed than the other games. In general, I always preferred his sprites to the more polished versions anyway because they just have more charm.
