This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:
- creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
- moving discussion pages
- moving reviews
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
- Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
- If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
- We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
- If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
- If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
- To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
- Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
- Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
- Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.
NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

Is there possible to blue link "...tropes are not clichés" in the main page like here?
^^ Just not done yet.
^ Clarify the question, please?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.He wants you to Pot Hole cliche on the front page.
Fight smart, not fair.done
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySo Seltzer And Friedberg has been locked for months, despite the fact they had a movie that just came out and people wanted to edit the page and trope it.
As of now, the introduction has had the very mention of that movie removed, making the page look extremely dated. I provided alternative text to the discussion page to add to the introduction, though this has been pretty much ignored.
Can we just assume that if for any reason, a page is locked, it will be locked for all time regardless of how useless that makes the page?
Considering we don't know when a page will get unlocked, yes that's a good assumption to make.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!It doesn't really make the page useless. The description is still there.
Pages get locked when they make more repair work necessary than is worth doing. Extreme natter magnets, or examples/edits making it look like the wiki as a whole supports some negative opinion of a work, etc..
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyPerhaps if a new draft is ready on the discussion page, the page could be flagged for the mods with a note letting them know that it's time for a switch? What say you, Eddie?
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.That could work. The mod could then make a judgment about whether or not the new version will likely put an end to the maintenance issue, or at least leave a message in discussion about why it wouldn't.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThat was the idea, yes. Most locked pages don't need updates at all, and there aren't that many locked pages in the first place, so I don't imagine it'd come up very frequently.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Pages for works and creators that are still active should not be permanently locked. As in the case of the page I just pointed to, they've had a movie come and go since the lock that can't be documented in the page's current state. So yes, the page is useless at the moment because we can't add any tropes or updates on their growing body of work.
There also hadn't been any edit wars on the page in question, it just became a victim of the Sonichu debate from defenders of that page trying to point to it as a page that was "just as bad" (which it wasn't). It's since been cleaned up and I think it wouldn't be hard to keep it that way. Their last movie didn't bother the internet much, so I think we can keep back the rush of people trying to put random, non-sensical tropes as Take Thats simply from the fellows in question being old news.

I agree. There wasn't as much vitriol for Vampires Suck so the article might stand a chance unlocked. Also, the Sonichu fervor has mostly died down since Chandler hasn't made a comic in ages now and is down to just producing lulz by making videos that have nothing to do with the comic. Seems like all we'd need there is a notice about not putting IRL info about Chris-Chan on the article, which was the crux of the past edit-wars.
tl;dr: Perma-lock is VERY counterproductive and harmful to the project if you ask me, since it defeats the whole purpose of an open wiki.
Still think we might want to keep Sonichu locked. That thing's hatedom is goddamned fanatical.
Wasn't too long ago that one of them suggested we reopen Complete Monster's Real Life section because Chris Chandler was so obviously an example.
What's precedent ever done for us?Can we unlock Memento? It's been a few months.
I don't see any value in unlocking Sonichu; the hatedom hasn't died down just because we made it leave the wiki for a while. We just got a recent post complaining about it. Similarly, the reason Memento was locked was because people kept trying to rewrite it to fit the meme of the film, which was inherently a spoiler. Unless you have some evidence that people have stopped wanting to do that, it needs to remain locked.
Meanwhile, you can propose any edits you want here in this thread.
By the way, pulling the "wikis don't work when they're locked" argument is all well and good, but the lock percentage on this site is something like one percent, and even The Other Wiki has locked pages. Have some actual evidence that we're Jumping Off the Slippery Slope rather than just pulling the argument out of your arse because you're mad.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Closer to one-tenth of one percent, really. 180 out 120K.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThis page has a broken redirect.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I didn't know the buggers would be that persistent.
I think the description needs a tiny bit of tweaking, it talks about John G but doesn't say how John G is relevant at all to the story. I think it just needs a tiny edit explaining that John G is supposedly the murderer.
Also, there's a couple edit requests on the discussion page.
@Marioguy: Fixed it. It still looks broken from the link you posted because of how you got it *, but it's fine here.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”I don't care who fixes it, and it's not that big of a deal, but Americans Hate Tingle has an instance of DV Ds that needs the not a wikiword markup added. I only really care because I've been cleaning those up.
Rocking you like a hadoken.^ got that one.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Madgruada, thanks, but the formatting is weird on the Weirdness Magnet entry. Weirdness Magnet isn't a Wiki Word like it should be and the part with Saphira was actually intended to be an inline quote, but for some reason that didn't show correctly here on the boards. (Nor is it showing correctly on the page, I think because there's a stray extra character at the start.)

“I just think that's really shady." "Shady?!" - Stephanie & Chad, The Amazing Race 17Got it. It wasn't an extra character in the source, it was a lack of space following the ">"
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Could someone remove the Berserk Button entry from the article on Wikipedia? Looking at the edit history of their article on Caillou (and being one of the top 30 editors on the site), I can guarantee that this entry is nothing but Blatant Lies, most likely added by a former Wikipedia vandal with a grudge:
"Joking that perpetually bald children's character Caillou has any kind of cancer or goes through chemotherapy will earn you a block and continuous scorn from Wikipedians, when most humor of that ilk on other articles gets you a slap on the wrist."

So has my request for the edits to The Inheritance Cycle been rejected, or just not done yet?
