I hate not being able to scan a colored pencil work for fear of having them turn out completely different from how it looks in real life. I also hate the fact that getting a tablet seems more and more useful.
Cleaning up drawings digitally.
I hate removing my construction lines, smudges, and the shadows created by the scanner. I wish I could find someone to do it for me...
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)I hate how inking something will make it look better on the computer, but leaving it in pencil makes it look better in real life. Also annoying: messing up on an area of a drawing so many times that you get dents in the paper.
I've been wanting a tablet, but I can't find a good reason that justifies spending the money. Well, I mean, I find drawing fanart a perfectly good reason, but I don't think it's going to fly with the parents.
Tumblr here.I actually find inking the image still better on paper and the screen, but meh.
oh god I hate this too
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Well I bought my tablet because I wanted to draw shitty webcomics. They're not that expensive, unless you go for a Cintiq or something ridiculous.
I'm not taking off my pants for a forum meme. -NornagestYou can get a (crappy) tablet for like $60. It's not super cheap, but I'd hardly call it expensive.
My mom's three hole puncher has mysteriously disappeared. HOW WILL I PUT PAPER INTO MY BINDER NOW?!
ARRRGH I ruined another mouth! Why are open mouths so hard to draw??!
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableEvery single type of Perspective ever. Meeting a fellow artist in RL and finding out that they just draw manga. People who just don't feel like using basic techniques because they think they aren't important or necessary.
I can never get myself to do much digital work. I've got all the bells and whistles, an Intuos3 tablet and Adobe CS 3 everything and a desktop all to myself (granted, very, very sluggish with the graphics), but I hardly ever use them. I even have lots of the basic skills necessary, since I took a two separate graphic design-type classes.
I don't know why, I just don't use them a lot! I love the look of digital, it's so slick and amazing, and so many advantages over traditional media, but I always come back to paper and pencil! Not only that, but in anything where it's not completely convenient for me, stuff like paints or inkwells or workstations, I just don't use that stuff if I can't carry it around all the time to use whenever I get the whim. And all the fricking clean-up for lots of this stuff! Wipe off the brushes, throw away the tissues, cap the paints, apply fixative, breathe air, blah blah blah!
I can't find my ideal sketchbook. I love squares... And I hate hardbound sketchbooks! All I want is a hard-cover split wirebound 12"x12" sketchbook with at least 50 pages of 90lb acid-free bright white paper, preferably with super-micro-perforations, elastic binding loop, and an attractive cover! Why is this so hard to find?! I can compromise, 10"x10" is pretty good too if I can get most of the rest of it! It doesn't have to be 'split' wirebound, it can just be wirebound, or maybe 80lb would be passible. But argh, I don't know if I'll ever find my Perfect Sketchbook.
Watercolor is annoying because the paper has to be so expensive and thick. Right now I refuse to care if the paper warps or wrinkles, stretching sounds like too much trouble for now.

My iMoodI don't know how, but I know some people make their own sketchbooks.
Here's another one: GIMP crashing when you didn't save for a while.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. >:C
This happens to me every so often. You would think I would learn to save every 5 seconds after a while, but no.
Tumblr here.I don't like what pencil does to this sort of thing, but is there anything better? Fuck.
whoever wrote this shit needs to step on a rake in a comedic fashion^^^ Do you know if these sketchbook-making methods include the traditional large metal wire-binding like lots of sketchbooks, and how to make a sturdy hard-cover for a sketchbook too?? I tried looking online, but all I can find so far is staple-bound, sewn-bound, etc. types, and thin-covers and things T_T . The only at-home wire-binding methods I've seen from a quick look was the small plasticky or cheap kinds for things like brochures or science projects. If I could find a way to make my ideal sketchbook at home, it would be peeeerfect!
Oh, another artist complaint. Scanners. Suck. ASS. The darks aren't dark enough, the colors aren't bright enough, the texture isn't smooth enough!! Uuuuugh, unless it's inked lineart, everything I scan loses half it's quality once on the screen >_< .

My iMoodIt just looks like a drawing, not actual stuff. I'm painting the next one.
whoever wrote this shit needs to step on a rake in a comedic fashionFOUNTAIN PENS ARE NOT FOR INKING SKETCHES. WHY DID I LEARN THIS THE HARD WAY.
Funny thing people complain about backgrounds and perspective. It's the reversed for me; while I'm actually good at illustrating complicated landscapes (especially cityscapes), still life, and machinery, I have no proper knowledge of human anatomy and coloring. I've now made it a point to learn drawing people with the aid of "Figure Drawing for Dummies".
Ugh, I feel so inexperienced. Where ever I feel like I'm improving somewhere, I feel over shadowed by other more experienced artists. I know I'm getting better though. The drawing classes are really paying off. However, I feel like my skill is in the middle of the class.
Also, has anyone ever had this feeling where you look at your old art works and you ask yourself, "How did I ever think this was good? This looks terrible!" I'm almost afraid to look back at my year + old art because I might think I suck. Raahhhh!
Don't make me fire Pinky's party cannon.Digital. Art. I find it... hard. It's totally different from traditional art.
On a Smack Jeeves forum thread, a fellow artist kindly suggested that I revamp my doojinshi's banner, but I don't really know what I should do, or where I should start. D:

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting Agency1: Make a slight edit to proportions of your character within two minutes or less
2: Spent fifteen minutes switching back and forth between the two versions to see which one looks better
3: Realize the difference will not be noticeable to the general public
4: Stick with the first one and decide to claim "realistic variation of proportions" when asked
Realizing too late that something you've drawn is all off and that it's too late to change it.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting Agency- Realize you drew something crooked
- Fix it
- Character's whole expression changes
I went through that very thing today. I never realized how difficult eyes were to draw... ;_;
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyThe fact that there are no 9x12 scanners. Apparently 8 1/2 x 11, 8 1/2 x 14, and 11 x 17 are the only paper sizes in the universe.
^ ...Or fat guys.
