Alrighty then!

Chapter 5: Beyond the Borders (Let's get Clerical!)

Our 7 man band has almost crossed into Lycia, and our group discusses whether or not the bandits will follow them into the new country. Sain, however, is more concerned about finding a certain inn to sleep in tonight with a beautiful woman who knows her way around a kitchen.

However, we aren't out of the woods yet. A group of bandits led by a man named Bug...alright, we've gotta stop. Everyone but Dorcas and Kent fell over laughing again. Anywho, they aren't gonna let us go without a fight, otherwise they'll have no street cred left in the mountains. We don't care, but we'll gladly take their weapons. Bug pulls out all the strings this time, guys! No holding back because they have women.

Meanwhile, a pink haired Cleric named Serra and purple haired mage named Erk have wandered on to the battlefield. They are apparently lost. Serra led them astray, according to Erk, who has been hired to protect her. He regrets this, however, as Serra is the most annoying creature on the face of the planet. According to him, she needs no protection. Anyone interested in raping, killing or stealing from her would go running for the hills in minutes.

Her offers to give her her money back if he can just go home. She refuses. He's HER escort now. He's neat, tidy, and easy on the eyes, so as a noblewoman, she needs a proper escort. Erk is probably wondering how long and painful a suicide by spell tome is. Serra, meanwhile, spots the action nearby and goes to have a look.

Apparently we've already started fighting, although everyone looks like their just standing around bored. An enemy archer spots the two magic users, and, assuming that they are with the other people with funky hair colors *Orange, Yellow/brown, brown, red, green, and lavender* attacks. Erk gets infront of Serra, and tosses a pair of fireballs at the archer, taking an arrow to the chest in the process.

Lyn notices Serra's ear splitting scream of terror. Hell, everyone hears Serra's ear splitting scream of terror. All across the continent of Elibe, people clap hands over their ears. Lyn goes over to see whats happening, and strikes up a conversation with Serra. Serra blames Lyn for their predicament in her usual, bitchy, carefree way. Erk is more rational, and dismisses it, and tells Lyn that they don't have to worry about the two of them.

Lyn still wants to team up, and Serra agrees. Erk, go and help these ladies!...Sain, Kent, Wil, Dorcas and Lupine give her wierd looks. Lupine wonders how feminine he looks in his nodescript robes, and vows to buy something far more manly next time their in town. Erk just sighs.

Serra introduces herself to Lupine, and, probably not giving him a chance to speak, explains her role. As a cleric, she can heal other units using her magical heal staff, available at any drug store nation wide. She's going to heal Erk, and completely free of all charges, because she's just that wonderful...She then demands we praise her generosity. She has us direct her to heal Erk, which I imagine begins with her skipping over to him and ripping the arrow out of his chest first.

Erk, fully healed, goes next. A mage can strike up close, like Lyn, Florina, the knights and Dorcas, or from afar, like Wil. Erk charges the archer who attacked him earlier, finishing him off and resting. Everyone else moves north, Kent attacking a bandit while Florina flies across a small lake to bait a mercenary into attacking her next turn.

A bandit attacks Wil, a mercenary attacks Erk, a Mercenary attacks Florina, and all live to regret it when we smite them next turn. Serra heals Erk, while Lyn and Dorcas, stuck in a forest, try to work their way up to everyone else.

Bandit attacks Kent, and dies, getting a random sword from him. An archer, playing it safer, goes after Sain, only to soon find himself stabbed by a pegasus knight from above, and roasted by a mage for a level up. Speed only. No magic. Erk will need Magic if he wants to stay on our team. And I like Erk.

Our team advances on bug, and, like an ant under a magnifying glass, he is promptly roasted. By which I mean he stands there like a slack jawed idiot while Erk throws fireballs at him roughly just out of arms length. Serra continues going around playing the medic for delicious, delicious experience points. Oh, and Florina buys a couple of javelins. I presume that Kent, Sain, Lyn, Wil and Dorcas have started a game of poker. *Another Erk level up. No magic still.*

Anywho, we're done here. We won't be dealing with random bandits anymore! Yay! While Lupine hands out party hats and cake, Serra and Erk begin to leave. Sain, however, can't let her leave without having a nice long flirt. A flirt that includes information about Lyn being a noblewoman. Erk's "Oh shit" meter ticks up just as Serra decides that if they help Lyn, they, (meaning she) will get awesome street cred amongst the nobles. Serra volunteers the duo to Lyndis' Legion.

We leave this chapter with Erk feeling really ill, and Lupine offering him a celabratory piece of ice cream cake.

Meanwhile: House Caelin. Lord Lundgren has recieved reports that Lyn has crossed the border. He orders soldiers to attack her in the next city she visits. Oh, and double the dose of the poison given to the Marquess. Force it down his throat if need be.

Regardless of Kitten orphanages or being screwed by the random number goddess, we carry on. Should Erk fall short, there will be another two mages I can fall back on. Although I may accidentally reset my game if Erk gets a bad level up early in a battle...just saying.

Chapter 6: Blood of Pride (Ensemble Dark Horse and Proud Warrior Race Guy)

Now in Lycia proper, our party decides to visit the closest city/province/territory thing, Araphen, to request aid in the battle against Lundgren.

Sain fills Lyn in on Araphen while Kent rides on ahead to inform the marquess about Lyndis' arrival. Kent comes back, announcing he managed to convince the marquess of Araphen to give them some supplies for the coming battles. Araphen and Caelin have been friendly territories for several years, after all. It should be rather easy from this point, as Sain says. Lupine immediatly buries his head in his hands, as Sain has just jinxed them rather badly.

Apparently so, as someone set the castle on fire, and people are fleeing in droves. Note the one little neutral green unit on the map who has been inching closer to our party all the while.

Anywho, Lundgrens men, as it's pretty obvious they are, have attacked the castle and now are coming for us. One of them goes after Lynbut a man on a horse with a bow and arrow rides out of nowhere and criticals the assassin directly into a wall, which proceeds to fall upon him. (Nifty artwork time!)

The rider observes Lyn, and makes to leave. Lyn stops him. He thought that she was a plainswoman, but was mistaken. Lyn corrects him, and tells him her tribe. He is surprised to hear about her survival, but encourages her to flee. Lyn offers to help, since the brigands are after her head. He agrees, and reveals himself as Rath, of the Kutolah tribe. You'll meet his daughter and father in the next game.

Before the battle begins, suspicious looking hooded cloth sack carrying lockpick using green unit pops into a womans house and gives her a bribe so he can use her living room to watch the carnage. She takes the money and goes to hide, while he begins wondering which side of this confict is more likely to win.

Rath reveals the secret passage into the castle requires you to flip three switches, which are hidden behind doors and other switches. Lyn wonders how they'll do that. Lupine just points to the house up north where Blondie Mc Thieferson is watching us with a conspicuously large pair of binoculars.

Lyn heads into the house right after him when our first turn comes around. Blondie Mc Thieferson wants to talk to her. He's weighed the death toll so far, and considering we've got 1/0 in favor of us, he's decided to join us. His name is Matthew, and he'll join us for a tidy sum. He'll even open up the doors for us. "Wait, how'd you know about-" "You Just Told Me" ...Alright, fine.

Matthew flounces over to Lupine, introducing himself, point out how to use himself, then skipping over to a nearby doorway and popping it open with ease. Rath, recognizing a switch inside the room, rides past Matthew and sits on it. *Apparently, it's a pressure switch.*

A passageway opens up when he does so, containing a treasure chest and a lone soldier, who waves at us.

Serra, considering no one is injured, pops into a nearby house, probably to demand a glass of water and a foot massage. She get's a door key for her troubles, and is booted out the doorway, where she tosses the disgusting, moldey key to Dorcas, who catches it one handed while looking the other way. Erk, Wil, Florina and Kent conspire to kill off 2 mercenaries. Erk is still hitting for ten damage even though he only has 5 magic points. When enemies get high resistance stats, however, things'll get tight for Erk and the two magic users I know we'll be using. Sain hits on a passing woman off camera.

Our turn comes again, and Matthew spots the conspicous treasure chest sitting in the middle of a hallway. Eagerly chanting "Treasure time!" he pops it open and reveals from inside a nifty looking robe. Lupine gives some faint protests about stealing from the man whose going to try and help us from getting killed, but Matthew blows him off. Lupine mentally sticks Matthew in the "Bait for giant enemies" column of his brain.

This robe is an angelic robe, which will give a boost to hit points. Matthew points out that you should use these instead of stockpiling them, and makes a few hints towards him getting the robe. Fat chance, buddy. If you don't get a coupla strength points before chapter 11, we're gonna have to boot you. Lyn will probably have this robe for herself, being the most vital member of our party at the moment. And the main character.

Erk roasts the soldier over easy with a nice orange sauce while Sain pops open the doorway and rides off, leaving Erk the juicy soldier inside to feast upon *MAGIC LEVELUP! HELLYAH!*. Serra meanwhile feels someones eyes on her. Thinking its another harmless stalker, she flounces off to heal someone. Matthew, once she's out of sight, wonders why the hell Serra is here. Is there a connection between these two characters?

Matthew, shaking off the jitters, goes over to a gaurd and steals his keys, leaving himself open for attack. Which I want. Matthew needs experience like I need and Xbox 360. *My brother took it away to college...I need to buy one...*

Guards charge Erk and Matthew. Erk kills his target. Matthew doesn't. However, both dodge. Dorcas, spotting the second switch, sits down on it. Wil finishes off Matthews target, and Serra, grabbing the key from Matthew, opens the door to a lone treasure chest, which Matthew then opens. The chest has an Armorslayer, which does extra damage to units wearing really thick armor.

Wil duels with another archer when the final room opens, before Lyn finishes him off. Just the boss remains now, and Erk, hopping down off of Sain's saddle, doubes him down to a level where Matthew, wielding the armorslayer, finishes him off*STRENGTH!*. His name was Bool, by the way. What the hell happened to Adam and Micheal? Rath sits down on the last switch, and the passage opens.

After the fighting, we meet up with Marquess Araphen. He wishes to speak to Lyn alone, without Rath present. He then asks who was attacking him. She answers, and he confirms. He isn't happy about that. Lyn apologizes. However, now, the wormy bastard has decided to withdraw his offer. Why? Because she's a plainswoman, tainted by Sacean blood. A mongrel. Sain is furious, and Kent holds him back.

Lyn, holding some nifty Tranquil Fury, declares that she is proud of the Sacae blood that runs through her. She won't be accepting the help of anyone who would judge her on that.

Outside, everyone discusses things, and the gossip that Marquess Caelin is ill and abed. Probably won't last long. Lupine, Serra, and Wil are in the background, egging the castle...well, Erk is egging the castle for Serra, but he'd probably join in anyways.

Meanwhile, wormy bastard is mumbling to himself that he would have helped us if Lyn had only cried for him. He'll never understand those prideful savages. Rath, however, is standing in the same room, and leaves with a few words about how the man doesn't care about the savages as long as they'll bend at the knees for him. Prick.

Rath meets up with us outside the city, with a large sack of money and a promise to join our cause.

My Florina always turns out a high strength, high speed, doubling, criticalling machine, paired up with a certain main character down the road.

Yep. Seems that about half the times the game is played, Florina turns from a Fragile Flower into a killer little girl on a pegasus (usually hooked up with the most awesome unit in the game to boot).

Regardless of Florina's ability to make all kneel under the hooves of her magnificent mount(Huey the pegasus) and pray for a swift death, she's still pretty frail at the moment. An axe user actually got at her the first time I played her first chapter. She went down in 1 hit. However, since I had been spoiled beyond belief before buying the game, I knew she would grow to be a monster, and reloaded.

Anywhowdle-doo, we're back. Last time, we picked up Blondie Mc Thieferson(Matthew) and Emotionally stunted nomad(Rath). We got no help from that prick from last chapter, and our party left him a parting gift of the leavings of poultry. I'd also like to imagine that Lupine paid Matthew to sneak back in after dark and place a bag of burning dog shit at the marquesses door, knock on it, and run away.

Anywho, on to our next chapter, where we will encounter...

Chapter 7: Siblings Abroad (Just Dance. It'll be Okay.)

We begin in an inn. A young boy with teal/aquamarine hair and red eyes is begging for help from the innkeeper. Being another emotionless bastard, says no. He was nice yesterday, before men showed up and started chasing him and his sister. Colette from Tales Of Symphonia watches on silently.

Meanwhile, our party has arrived in town, which is called Kathelet. 10 days ride from Caelin. Not too long now, so long as we aren't distracted...Lupine, hearing Kent jinx us yet again, begins climbing the nearest tree in preparation for the battle. He spots the young boy as he approaches.

Young boy asks Lyn if our company is a band of mercenaries, and probably inquires as to why I'm asking Dorcas for a leg up. He needs our help. Kent cuts him off, telling Lyn that she can't let her guard down for a child under these circumstances. Lyn knows that. Young boy, however, insists that he needs help right away. His sister has been kidnapped!

Sain, having somehow sidled up behind the boy...on a horse, no less... is instantly interested. He insists we help the boy. Kent says that we don't have the time. But Lyn vetos Kent on this, and sides with Sain. She's worried about her sick grandfather, but she can't watch a child taken from her home! Kent apologies for his callousness. He will follow her, wherever she will lead. *Yes, these two can have a support conversation/ending.*

Sain, however, ruins the moment by applauding Kent's speech about being a loyal retainer, and rouses the troops. Nils will lead us to the men. They are tough, however, so we must be careful. Heh. We're prtetty tough, right Lupine?...Lupine? Lupine gives a yes from up in his tree, before warning of the coming men in dark cloaks.

One of them comes at Nils, saying that it's time for Nils to come back to Nergal...person, place or thing? Nils demands they return his sister, Ninian, back to him. Kidnapper Mc Gee decides to rough him up before the capture. Lyn intercepts, probably striking a badass pose while Dramatic Wind whips her green ponytail and plainsclothes around. Unfortunately now, as Kidnapper Mc Gee notes, Lyn is fated to die.

We now have access to the preperation screen. Using this, we can pick which 8 units of our 10 will be coming with us for the battle. Rath and Dorcas will sit this one out. Matthew jumps into Dorcas's open slot. We can also adjust where our units stand, with the 7 of them jostling for 7 already selected tiles of land. Mounted units in the rear, Matthew, Erk and Wil up front, Serra in the middle.

Anywho, Lyn notes with worry to Lupine that they are facing a shaman this fight. Shamans can use dark magic (At which point a disgruntled and slightly british voice in the distance yells "ELDER MAGIC!" and everyone takes a moment to look around, confused) which is rather strong.

However, all is not lost! Colette has come out from the inn and approaches Lyn. Huzzah! Quick, pull out your wings and give us a quick Judgement spell!

After Lyn and Colette stop staring at Lupine, Lyn notes that she looks like an Emiline bishop. She's part of the church, yes, but is only an acolyte. A monk. Well, I see then...didn't know monks were so gender friendly these days! Her name is Lucius...still, totally a girly name...err...umm...ah...

Anywho, Lucius saw the scene with the innkeeper, and wanted to help out Nils. Lucius's light magic will be a great service to us.

(Alrighty then, an aside to you people. Turn on your safe search feature on google, and look for "Lucius Fire Emblem." Then look for "Colette Tales of Symphonia." and compare the images you'll find. The man has child bearing hips, for Cherubi's sake!)

Lucius is forced to go first when the battle starts, and we send him against the shaman. Lucius, with much waving of his arms and sparklyness that would make Edward Cullen feel like a man...or atleast a drag queen, he doubles the shaman down to nearly nothing.

Nils pipes up that he can help us too. He's a bard, and bards are useful to have around! *Snort*...Sorry, kid. Lyn notes that a ballad or Saltarello(This is the actual word she uses. Methinks Lyn was secretly a clarinet player for the grand Sacae Philharmonic.) Nils, however, skips over to Lucius and begins a little jig accompanied by flute music. Lucius, feeling creeped out, finds the ability to move again and get away from this display.

Kent and Sain, meanwhile, rescue Nils and move him to a further location on the map, before dropping him off. That's a useful trick for getting people places faster. Since Nils was forced by tutorial into a spot where he'd fall behind everyone else on the next few turns, we sped the process up.

Note now that this chapter has a hidden condition in order to unlock a secret bonus chapter. You must defeat the boss within 15 turns. Then you get even more enemies for your units to devour.

Starting the chapter properly, Lucius moves slightly ahead and finishes off his shaman buddy. Matthew spots and archer and descends upon him, with two knives and a nifty grin. Everyone else moves forward. Oh, and Erk stops by a store to pick up another fire tome. Amazingly enough, they stock those right next to the Pringles.

Our turn rolls around agan, and Matthew goes after another bandit. Lucius sneaks in behind, assisted by Nils, and finishes him off. Everyone is now forced to move into this bottleneck area with mountains cutting down mobility. Florina, from her pegasus above, laughs at the silly ground walkers.

Erk comes under fire from a mercenary, and Lucius, thinking fast, quickly uses his androginous looks to confuse the man into not noticing the light spell that fries his brain. Everyone else is making the slow journey over these amazingly short mountains.

There's a bridge that doubles as another choke point, and Matthew takes gaurd. Across the river, another mage, seeing Erk, decides to fight fire with fire. After what can only, considering the mages dodging and critical animations, be described as a fricken sweet dance-off, Erk emerges, the victorious master of the funk. Matthew tosses him a pair of sunglasses and Serra probably glomps him.

Lucius kills a bandit, getting a level up in the 2 least important stats. Skill and Resistance. Why? Because his skill and resistance are already great.*Headbang* Florina and Wil meanwhile team up on another mercenary. Wil's leavel up gives us another nifty keen strength point. But he could use some speed. Nils, doing a little dance, helps use manuver our forces over the bridge, while Kent and Sain, forced to go around, visit a village. We get a bottle of pure water, one of the top contenders for most useless item of the year. It increases resistance.

At this point, I'd like to make a bottled water and why it's so impractical joke, but I just can't. We throw the pure water away immediatly.

A bandit goes after Wil, who takes it, unflinching, like a man. Florina goes after a shaman down south, who can't seem to get a hit on her. Erk finishes a bandit off, and probably gives a little gangster sign as he goes down. Everyone else is still trying to get across the goddamn bridge. Lyn decides it's quicker just to hop on Kent's back for a piggy back ride.

Shaman goes after Wil, and Lyn, freshly arrived, promptly slices him in twain. Nils and Serra finally get across the F****** bridge, and Serra heals Wil from his various injuries. She's almost ready for her first level up!

Unbenownst to everyone, Matthew slips inside one of the little information houses in the southeast corner of the map. Inside is a young man with blue hair and armor. Matthew addresses him as "Milord" and asks what he's doing here. Bluehead is here to meet up with a friend, Eliwood, for a monthly duel thing they have going. Matthew notes their strong friendship. He asks Matthew what his skinny is. Apparently, "Milord Uther" is curious about the whole Caelin situation. Bluehead asks what his brother will do. Matthew claims that Uther will side with Lyn, as Lundgren is the sort of guy who shows up at the annual christmas party and starts insulting people and forcivly dragging the poor, unfortunate secretary under the mistletoe, before he starts stealing presents from the charity bin to sell online. He may even go for house Ostia's throne if left alone.

Matthew won't be returning home for a bit. He wants to see how this will all turn out. Let Uther know, Bluehead, and with that, Matthew, whistling innocently, wanders back outside.

Everyone else, meanwhile, has closed on on the boss. After Lucius gives the last shaman mook on the map what can only be described as a divine Pimp slap, Nils does a little jig and we begin. Erk and Wil presumbably form a fire arrow to attack our last opponent, a hooded shaman by the name of Heintz. For some reason, all I can think about while fighting this guy is condiments. However, Lucius is able to strike the final blow, and RELISHES in the victory. *Baddumtish...*

We rush inside the fortress these mysterious thugs have, and search for Ninian. She isn't here, though. Kent relays a report from the villagers nearby. They spotted a group of men riding south with a girl in tow. Lyn and the others prepare to give chase, but then comes a voice. The voice of a protagonist to be.

A valient looking redheaded boy wearing expensive looking armor appears, carrying an unconcious girl with a flowing dress and long, teal/aquamarine/mint hair. She's unconcious, as he just saved her from a group of mysterious thugs. I expect that he probably stabbed one of them while a certain purple haired Paladin soaked up the experience. His name is Eliwood, and he's a noble son from the Pherae territory. His father is the Marquess there. Eliwood is a random do-gooder, which We'll see more of later.

Lyn thanks him for Ninians rescue, and explains her own story of being Marquess Caelin's granddaughter. We fade to black, and Lyn presumably takes him over the events of the last 7 chapters and the prolouge. Presumably with everyone else chipping in at the appropriate times. I imagine Lupine sitting in a corner with the secret supply of booze he and Matthew found the cellar and making snarky comments.

Eliwood believes us. He can see that Lyn is related to Marquess Caelin. She has his eyes. And he knows that the people of Sacae tell no lies. Which is strangely true. Apparently, over the two games, no Sacaen ever tells a direct lie...except maybe Rutger, but I don't own a patch for FE 6, so...yah.

Anywho, Lyn turns down Eliwoods offer to help us. T His is her battle. He's fine with that, but if she needs help, he'll be in Kathelet for the next few days. Presumably to have his duel with Bluehead Mc Noblehouse.

Ninian, sometime during our story hour, had woken up. She and Nils share a little reunion. And then there are the usual introductions. Ninian thanks us, and explains that the two of them are traveling performers. She is a dancer, and she can dance to give us the same effects of a bard. No dice for those thinking "Sweet, infinite experience for both of them!" Because only one of them is available at any time. Ninian had, during the kidnapping, twisted her ankle, so she can't dance to aid us. Sain in particular is dissapointed, and slots his 5 dollar bills back into his wallet for another day.

Nils asks if they can travel with us. Lyn, for once, is a bit skeptic about having two unarmed combatants who are being hunted traveling with a group that is also being hunted by different people. As is Lupine. Because really, what's the point of someone who can't fi-...Stop giving him that look, Lyn. You're the one who insists we visit houses to learn useless shit.

Anywho, Nils and Ninian have a special ability, aside from the extra turn giving deal. They can detect danger. This is a plot sensitive power, so Lupine is now down with them traveling with us. Since they can't do anything to stop danger, being unarmed, they're usually pretty helpless. But with our band, we can take out the danger.

Lyn asks her escorts. Kent knows that if we left them, Lyn would only worry about the two. And Lyn knows what Sain will say. Apparently the opinions of Florina, Wil, Dorcas, Erk, Serra, Matthew, and Rath don't mean anything. Oh, and Lucius now, I guess. I presume that Lupine probably joined him up to our cause during storytime. A Nywho, we're all joined up.

Ninian, however, suddenly notices something. Her mother's ring and only keepsake to remember her by, called Ninis's Grace. They must have taken it off of her. Lyn takes Lupine aside and asks him if our group can go to the bandit hideout and find the ring for the children. Lupine, seeing the opportunity for treasure and experience, agrees. This is the condition set earlier, by the way. If more than 15 turns had passed before we defeated Ketchupface Shamanpants, we couldn't do the next chapter, Chapter 7X. There is no reason in the world to turn this offer down, unless you're doign a speedrun of the game.

Lupine and Lyn agree to go after the bandits, and we take off immediatly.

Next time: Homicide, Suicide, Cyanide, and Hammers.

Right-o then, onwards we go. Last time, our heroes met with two unusual children who can sense danger coming at plot important times. One of them, Ninian, had been kidnapped by a mysterious group identified only as "The Black Fang." We, with the help of a passing nobleman, Eliwood, freed Ninian. However, they had stolen a keepsake from her dear mother while holding her, and had taken it to a fortress.

We begin inside the fortress, where a woman clad slightly scantilly in purple with nifty blue hair is being briefed by one of the generic boss characters. She doesn't want to hear his excuses. She want's his plan to get them back. He replies that we are already heading their way, and holds up Ninis's Grace.

The woman, who, judging by her sprite, is a Valkyrie (Promoted mages on horseback) approves this plan. He'll get a second chance. She'll be back soon, and if he doesn't have them by tommorow morning, she will deal to him "The Fang's Punishment".

Meanwhile, our group has snuck outside the fortress and are scoping it out. Nils and Ninian are having second thoughts. Forget the ring and save our asses. Lyn, however, says that if Lupine hadn't agreed with her, we wouldn't be here. She trusts Lupine. He'll do them good. Lupine, meanwhile, is looking over everyones statistics and deciding who get's the kills this time round.

Kent and Sain report that there are more people than they expected. Kent, however, tells Lyn that we can use the narrow corridors to our advantage.

The map has us begin outside, and then move into a series of thin, 1 tile wide corridors and several rooms with walls that we can break down. One of these rooms has a single treasure chest that contains an entirely useless item for people who haven't been using Dorcas, but we'll still sell it for profit.

We begin with Lucius and Erk going after seperate targets and taking them both down. Erk get's more magic! Lucius gains some more Magic and skill. Florina carefully positions herself carefully, to lure a soldier into her lance while avoiding an Archer. How she's manuvering inside a building is beyond me.

Florina's target dies a broken man, allowing her to level up for more speed. An archer takes aim at Erk, and is later reported to be served with a nice orange sauce at the after party. Lucius duels his lightning spell against another mage's thunder, and wins. Lyn pulls out the Mani Katti again and slices an approaching cavalier into perfect cubes of meat with a critical hit.

Serra heals Florina, finally leveling up in...Luck and resistance?*Headdesk*. Florina, Sain, and Kent all head up into a larger chamber to find two mercenaries and a bandit. There were no survivors.

Wil, meanwhile, shoots an arrow at a wall which is apparently made entirely out of LEG Os, and it almost shatters. Matthew gives what I can only assume is a Fonzarelli Fix with a knife thrown in. He also dons a pair of sunglasses before doing so, and the treasure room is open to us. However, there is also a thief close by. This is good. Thieves give out more experience when killed than most units. We'll use the treasure as bait, and then take it off of his corpse when we slit his throat.

Matthew and Erk come under the swords of two guards. Florina makes a mercenary kebab. The thief takes the hammer. However, while the skinny punk is struggling to lift the thing, Matthew sneaks up behind him, taps him on the shoulder, and stabs him in the other side of the head when he turns to look at us, gaining a single, lousy point of luck. Wil shoots the guard who came after Matthew, and they're done for the chapter.

Lucius finishes the last guard, and the boss is now only accompanied by a mage and a shaman. Lyn personally will ventilate their torsos, as she's been falling behind in levels recently. She slices the mage, and waits for the shaman, dodging... well, actually, he sort of just fired in the wrong direction while Lyn just stood there. After an awkward pause, Lyn decapitates him with a critical hit. .

Only the boss remains now, a lonely mercenary who personally knows that if he fails here, he's going to get a swift, painful death from the woman we saw before. He won't move, so we take a little while, heal all of our wounds. Then comes a *Twang* Hello from Wil, followed closely Lyn and the Mani katti.

He's still alive after the boss battle, however, and, even though Lyn offers him his life, he promptly injests a cyanide capsule. Kent notes that these are an organized group, and not the usual rabble. This worries him. Ninian and Nils are staying quiet on the reason that they're being hunted. Lyn, however, says that so long as her sword comes under Lupine's guidance, they will always be safe from harm.

This is why the Lyn/Tactician ship is so popular, by the way, incase anyone was wondering.

Lyn gives Ninian her ring back, and we fade to black.

No, just that a stupid mercenary managed to crical Erk. Twice! Two seperate bloody attempts! Two criticals! I had to go back to Pokemon and imagine every Golbat my Sudowoodo crushed to death was that specific mercenary. Other than that, fine.

However, I will probably be slowing down on updates once school starts. I'm on the drama club board and may or may not be in a musical held in a city 45 minutes away from my own. Yah never know.

Chapter 8: Vortex of Strategy (Picinicinicinic)

Our posse has finally arrived in the Caelin territory, Lyn watching the mountains we crossed back in chapters 4-5 in the distance. Kent estimates that we'll arrive in Caelin castle in two days if we hurry. Lyn prays for her grandfather to hang in there for a little while longer. Florina encourages Lyn to cheer up, as the others will lose heart if they see Lyn troubled.

Nils, however, suddenly informs us he senses danger. Ninian then tells Lyn not to move. At that moment, a large arrow, roughly the size of Nils, strikes the ground directly between Lyn's feet and quivers. This is one hell of a *Twang* Hello.

Kent informs us that this is a ballista, which is basically a giant bow that can attack really far. The archer whose operating it is halfway across the map from us. Sain warns Florina to stay out of it's range, as Pegasus knights are mincemeat to these things. Lundgren must be getting desperate to deploy siege weapons against an 18 year old girl.

Kent tells Lyn that you should have someone sturdy be bait and waste the limited arrows the ballista has in stock. Then you can safely "knock the fool on the head" in the words of Sain. Wil, when pressed by Lyn, says he can probably figure out how to use one if we can get to it before it runs out of arrows.

Before we can begin, however, Matthew slides up to Lupine and tells him that he's going to be on an errand for the duration of the battle. We can't use him. He hands the Angelic robe he's been holding on to to Lyn, and heads off. Lyn slips on the robe, and her hit points rise up by seven. However, the robe immediatly disintigrates upon contact with human skin. Lyn probably needs a shower at this point. They probably all do.

We begin the battle proper. There's a lone village to the east of us, gaurded by a shaman and a mage. Lucius will rest in the shade of a forest tile and kill them both on counterattacks, hopefully after dodging them. Everyone else will be forced through a little pass area. Even Florina will be in the jam, so that next turn she can safely fly from one edge of the ballistaes circle of death to the other edge and move into an area reinforcements will spawn.

Lyn kills a mercenary, leveling up for strength! Nils dodges a ballista bolt. Lucius takes a fireball to the chest, but, commically, it bounces off with the metallic "tink" that comes with all attacks doing no damage. Both the shaman and the mage are doubled to death.

On our turn, we have several enemy units within range, so I set up a defensive wall of Kent, Sain, and Lyn. Everyone moves into position behind them. Florina flies through the circle of arrowy death, and reachs the other side of a small river. Lucius casually strolls towards the village, probably singing along with birds and having a disney princess estique montage.

At this point, the boss calls for reinforcments. His name is...Yogi. His name is Yogi. Like the bear. And death is in his Picinic basket. That's all your gonna get out of me, I've never actually watched the cartoon.

Our turn again. Kent, Sain and Lyn took some hits. Nils actually got hit by a Ballista bolt, but he's alright. Our turn, Lyn, Wil, Erk, Kent and Sain all kill soldiers. Serra, assisted by Nils, makes her healing rounds.

Lucius reaches the village, bidding farewell to his animal friends. An old man educates us on a new game mechanic. The reaver weapons. These weapons reverse the weapon triangle. The Lancreaver is a sword that beats lances, swordreaver is an axe that beats swords, and axereaver a lance that beats axes. However, the reversal goes both ways. Axes beat the lancereaver for example. He hands Lucius a lancereaver, and Lucius calmly stores it in his pocket and heads off to some hills down south.

Enemy turn. Two soldiers appear in the fortresses next to where Florina has parked herself. She dispatches both with ease. The ballista takes another shot at Nils, who dodges with ease.

With some help from Nils, Sain reaches the ballista and kills the archer operating it with his javelin. Everyone else rushes over to catch up, Wil readying his hands in anticipation for getting to use the big bow. Florina strokes Huey's head while munching on a vulenary.

Florina kills another two soldiers, leveling up again. One single g-d—- point of skill. I channel my anger by having Erk gently set a bandit on boil for twenty minutes. Meanwhile, I'm going to get out the things we'll need for our ent-...oh, wait. Wrong liveblog. Anywho, Lyn takes her position at the edge of a bridge to bait out more victims. Serra levels up. 1 point of resistance. Those of you who like Serra can begin worrying now, as it's looking a lot like she's being replaced by the next healer to come along. THe enemies don't move, so we'll inch a little closer. The final three enemies on this map and the boss all have reaver weapons. Meaning that if Lyn attacks the axe wielding bandit, she'll come out the worse for it.

Wil hops into the Ballista, which we can now move around and use to shoot people with. Wil takes aim at the boss, Yogi, and vowing revenge for his uncle, the ranger, he fires. Yogi notes, as the bolt sticks out of his armor, quivering, that we must have taken the Ballista.

Lucius has finally made it back to us, and hands the giant sword over to Kent.

A soldier misses Erk, who fries him, leveling up for...magic! Haha! Erk is finally on his way!

There are only so many ways to say "Look, Lyn decapitated a mercenary." In this case, I'm going to have to go with "Lyn ventilated that gentlemans neck-hole."

Kent and Sain finish off a bandit holding a swordreaver, and we can get to the boss now. Wil finishes the ballista and levels up for strength and speed! *Wink* Erk follows with a fireball, and Sain finishes him off for...skill and luck...*Headdesk* With his dying breath, Yogi prays for the reinforcements.

We're done now, and Kent is bothered. Why? Because we've been fighting soldiers from Caelin. Kent and Sain trained with many of them. Sain actually propably impaled his fraternity brother somewhere along the line back there.

Sain isn't troubled. They've betrayed Caelin for Lundgren. Less resistance for us at the castle. Kent hopes he's right.

Lyn, meanwhile, thanks Ninian and Nils for warning us, when Matthew shows back up! He congradulates us on defeating the ballista. He went to the village to sniff out some information.

On Marquess Caelin's illness, he's been in bed for three monthes with the sickness. One interesting rumor about the condition, however, is that someone is slipping the man poison. And a certain someone took control as though he owned the place as soon as his brother fell ill. Matthew crossed someone's palm with silver, and confirmed it to be Lundgren.

Lyn is shocked that no one will raise a hand to Lundgren, but Kent points out that no one has proof, and he can answer the question "You and what army" by pointing out the window. THe whispers of the common mean nothing. Any of the marquesses loyal retainers have also apparently been vanished away.

Even worse news comes now, however. An imposter claiming to be the marquess's granddaughter, traveling with two rogue knights, a lesbian dominatrix pegasus knight, a drunken archer, a wifebeater, a satanic priestess, a sociopathic mage, another mongrol nomad, a thief, and a drag queen and a bard and dancer. Oh, and a handsome devil of a tactician. *Guess which ones I added in for comedy and win a prize!*

Kent and Sain are outraged to be called traitors. Matthew, meanwhile, asks LYn if she ahs anything to prove her heritage. Lyn's mother didn't really pack much when she joined the Lorca tribe, however, so nope. Her face? Someone will just say that Kent and Sain found a look alike somewhere. Marquess Caelin will have to be the one to see Lyn and confirm it.

We'll be in trouble going much further, with all the patrols. Lyn, however, has an idea. Eliwood, the goody two shoes we met two chapters ago! Quick everyone! Back to Kathelet!

Next time: Large Ham! Fogof War! Sympathetic bosses! Tutorial parting shots! All next on Let's Play Fire Emblem.

Technically, everyone lives anyways at the end of Lyn's tale. Lyn orders people on the brink of death to retreat. They then return for the next part of the story to be re-recruited.

However, if they die, all those precious level ups will be gone. And then we can't use the unit until they rejoin down the line, back at their base levels. I'm not gonna go through with that. It's just not happening.

I am, however, also keeping everyone alive for sentimental reasons. I hate reading death quotes. A Nd I like my units. If they live, they usually cut out deep swatches of enemies on every counterattack. They go on to have happy endings. The only units I've ever left dead were Leanne and Davden in Radiant Dawn. Leanne because she still is a survivor, storywise, and Davden because I just had come to far into a chapter to turn back. I did regret it, however.

Since we're about to meet him I wonder if most people know that the reason Wallace dissapeared after Lin's story is because he went to Taliver Mountains to kill every single bandit that lived there.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.
