Team Rocket RP Signups - Those Bad Guys

Welcome to the Team Rocket RP!

I thought about doing an interest check, but I figured a lot of people would be interested. After all, who among us has never wished they could accept the offer that guy on Nugget Bridge gave them? That's right, everyone has.

The story:
We are Team Rocket! We revel in stealing pokemon, conducting illegal experiments (For Science!... and profit!), stealing money and property, kicking puppies, destroying lives, foiling the police, and being generally evil. That's not to say we're all bad; many of us are misfits, and a little... odd. However, none of that matters, considering the disappearance of our great and beloved leader, Giovanni. Though we have been shattered by his absence, we shall rebuild ourselves anew! The debacle at the Goldenrod Radio Tower two years ago was merely a temporary setback! We will rise again from the ashes of defeat! For Power! For Glory! For TEAM ROCKET!

Character Sheet:

• Name: Self-explanatory

• Age: ""

• Rank/ Job: We'll need grunts, of course, but also scientists, executives, and any other jobs you can think of that might be needed. Execs will be co-GMs with me, and should also have a more mundane character of a different rank.

• Hometown: Any place in Kanto or Johto (although we may eventually expand to other regions)

• Specialty: Your pokemon type specialties, as well as any skills you specialize in (besides being, you know, a criminal).

• Pokemon (name and/or nickname): Maximum of three. We'll be using only Kanto and Johto pokemon for the time being. No legendaries, obviously, and particularly powerful and rare pokemon would be restricted to Execs and higher ups.

• Physical Description (trainer and pokemon): Obvious. List your character's appearance here. Also list anything unusual about the appearances of your character's pokemon.

• Personality: Again, self-explanatory. However, your pokemon will be characters as much as your human character, so summarize their personalities as well. If you like, you can combine the Personality and Physical Description section.

• Background: Your character's personal history, including, of course, how and why they joined Team Rocket.

• My Dream: A personal statement by your character. Doesn't need to be a description of their lifelong goal, though it can be. Merely needs to be a statement, in the character's words, about their "dream". Does not need to be Team Rocket centric. Examples:
  • "Steal Pokémon for profit! Exploit Pokémon for profit! All Pokémon exist for the glory of Team Rocket!"
  • "To punch out a Machamp or something, that's cool, right? ...Right? Ah hell I just want to have fun."
  • "None of your business."

  • Eric: Average height and weight. Blond hair. Blue eyes.

• Personality: Long-serving member of Team Rocket. Laid back most of the time, and mostly well-liked by his coworkers and subordinates. Capable of kindness and extreme cruelty. Exudes confidence. Enjoys pranks, magic tricks, and melodrama.
  • Venomoth (Venificus): Eric's starter pokemon and first partner. Specializes in status ailments. Unshakably loyal to his master.
    Personality: Curious and inquisitive.

  • Ninetales (Dola): Eric's strongest pokemon. Found by a young Eric as a trainer along Route 6, where the Ninetales enjoyed tricking passerby for amusement. Followed him because she sensed he had a similar sense of humor. She has never revealed her true age, but she is likely very old.
    Personality: Like Eric, enjoys drama and showmanship. Hates boredom, to the point of frequently complaining if not entertained.

  • Abra: (Sapero): Eric's most recently acquired pokemon. Only knows Teleport.
    Personality: Even-tempered.

Background: Only son of two Silph Co. board members, young Eric Richter was set for life. Not only were his parents wealthy, but as just an infant, he was discovered to have a powerful Psychic gift, and was instantly enrolled in classes at Saffron's famous Psychic Academy. Yes, things were looking very good for Eric Richter, until one day at the age of eight, when his life took a sharp downward turn.

On that day, Eric's loving parents died in a tragic auto accident (or was it?), and he was left to fend for himself. His parents' former coworkers were all too happy to fill the power vacuum they left behind, snatching up the family fortune and leaving Eric destitute. As it turns out, enrollment in the Saffron Psychic Academy comes with a single string attached: lots and lots of money, which young Eric suddenly found himself in very short supply of.

So, leaving his beloved Academy friends behind, Eric was shuttered away to a foster home. Couple after couple wanted to adopt, but inevitably they would always decide not to. There was just something about him, they would whisper privately, something off, some presence about him that made him seem not quite normal. Eric, though, merely waited impatiently to be of legal age to become a Pokemon Trainer, the only official way to become emancipated before the age of majority, and the only way he had out of the orphanage. Oh, life was far from hell for young Eric, but he had already decided that it was not the place for him. No, once before he had been standing on top of the world, and he was determined to return to that level, by whatever means necessary.

As he and his team of pokemon fought their way through legions of trainers, Gyms, and wild pokemon, Eric was pleased, if unsurprised, to learn that he was actually quite good at battling. As his notoriety in some circles grew, he progressed from Gym to Gym, eventually becoming locked in repeated stalemates with his hometown's Leader, Sabrina. Giving up on defeating the other Psychic for the time being, Eric moved onto the remaining Gym Leaders and defeated them as well, until he found himself at Viridian City. It was within that city's Gym that Eric found a man whom he instantly felt kinship with, who exuded the same endless, unquenchable ambition that he, himself was driven by: Viridian Gym Leader and Team Rocket Boss, Giovanni.

After their battle, Giovanni offered him a job at Team Rocket, and Eric eagerly accepted. Quickly rising through the ranks of the covert operations division, he was its long-time head before being promoted to an Executive.

Left shortly after Team Rocket was disbanded. Some presumed he was following Giovanni, but in reality his purpose for leaving remains unknown. Now he has returned to reform the organization, again for unknown reasons. Does he really intend to help with Team Rocket's revival, or is there something else at work?

I never thought I'd sign up for a pokemon roleplay, but I always wanted to play Team Rocket in the games as a kid and may as well take the chance now that I have it.

•Pokemon (name and/or nickname): ◦ Wigglytuff (Scarlett): Bonnie's starter Pokemon. Suspicious (paranoid, even), with refined tastes and a general dislike for Wild Pokemon. ◦ Miltank (Melanie): The heavy hitter, generally good-natured but flies into a rage when her delusions of grandeur are contradicted in any way.

•Physical Description (trainer and pokemon): Purple-haired (dyed) in a ponytail over her head, thin and slender. Wide, innocent-looking blue eyes; beaming smile.

•Personality: Cheerful, pleasant and apparently humble. Secretly, she's scheming, manipulative and incredibly ambitious. She likes karaoke, chocolate and kickboxing.

•Background: Born in Goldenrod City to a struggling restauranteur, Bonnie was always a pleasant child for her parents. She played nicely with the other children, and was always happy, even when she didn't get what she wanted right away.

In actuality, she was furious. She terrorized the other kids and left painful but non-fatal marks on them so they wouldn't tell on her, and took out frustrations on her Pokedolls. After being sent to Trainer School, she was the same, only now she'd had even more experience hiding it, and Pokemon to help her.

According to her, getting a normal job or taking the usual Trainer Route is "way too borin' to think of", so she decided to take the easy route to fame, fortune and a position firmly at the top of the infrastructure, having been recruited on a trip to Cerulean City. It's just that her ship hasn't quite come in yet. But it will.

• Name: Klaus Qester
• Age: 30
• Rank/Job: Scientist
• Hometown: Olivine City
• Specialty: Chemistry, machines, interrogation
• Pokemon:

• Houndoom (Seraphita): Klaus' starter pokemon. They've been partners for 16 years, and she has the distinction of being the only pokemon Klaus refers to by anything but a serial number. Seraphita was once belligerent, constantly resisting orders, but has since become more amiable.

• Ditto (#187): Captured and experimented on by Klaus 8 years ago, after the end of his pokemon journey. It never seemed to mind the injections, but then again, Klaus was never entirely sure it could feel them. Its personality is one of pure indulgence, and it never ceases looking for new and exciting ways to spent its time.

• Cubone (#453): During the raid on the Kanto Pokemon Tower years before, Klaus captured this one after one of the grunts dealt the killing blow to its mother. It resisted its new 'owner' at first, but it was eventually taught to obey. When not being forced to fight for its master, it is usually asleep, having become jaded and apathetic over the years.

• Physical Description: At 6'1" tall and weighing 156 pounds, Klaus is tall and thin, with deep green eyes and blond hair, with just a touch of premature gray.

• Personality: Having joined Team Rocket during Giovanni's reign, Klaus often remembers the good old days, and has served loyally since then. Generally tolerated, but not necessarily well-liked by his peers, due to his odd sense of humor and complete disregard for the ethical treatment of anyone, Pokemon or otherwise. However, those who can look past his 'mad scientist' nature might find a trusted ally and friend.

• Background:

Growing up in the sleepy fishing city of Olivine was, truly, all Klaus could have hoped for at that age. He'd enjoyed the days spent leisurely waiting for Magikarp to bite on his line, as well as watching the deliveries from Cianwood come in; he'd always get excited whenever he could just barely see the man on his Lapras appearing over the horizon. Living with his parents and elder brother was, truly, a cherished time in his life. However, once past primary school, Klaus began to take an interest in more scientific activities. Not any particular science, but mostly how things worked...and how one could break them.

Up until the age of 14, Klaus would work in secret almost every night, catching wild pidgeys and sentrets with intricate traps and nets, and stay up most of the night figuring out how they 'worked'. He'd not had the courage to dissect one until the age of 11, but after that, a whole new world of discoveries opened up to him. Klaus was never discovered, and when he'd turned 14, his father gave him a Houndour, the first Pokemon he'd ever actually owned, as a birthday present. Klaus had originally intended to experiment on this Pokemon as well, having never seen a dark-type up close before, but eventually thought better of it, and in return he eventually gained a loyal friend.

After going on a relatively short Pokemon journey, lasting only 2 years, Klaus returned home to find that his brother had gotten married, and had been blessed with a daughter, whom he'd named Jasmine. Klaus had intended to leave Olivine again shortly, but when an accident at sea took the lives of both his brother and his wife, Klaus was left to care for Jasmine for a while longer. For four years, Klaus tended to his timid niece, but at the age of twenty, he received an opportunity too good to pass up: A particularly slippery burglar escaping west from Ecruteak City just so happened to run into Klaus. After subduing the man, Klaus searched him, finding enough information to trace him back to the Celadon Game Corner. Once there, Klaus was captured and interrogated by the executives, but eventually Giovanni took an interest in his talents, as men of science were rather hard to come by compared to your average grunt.

Since then, Klaus has thrown away any ties to his previous life, embracing his position within Team Rocket with gusto and pride.

• Name: Seraphina Crescens

• Age: 19

• Height/weight: 5'3", 119 lbs.

• Rank/ Job: Scientist/field researcher

• Hometown: Blackthorn City

• Specialty: Psychic and Dark Pokemon. Wandering aimlessly. Brilliant ideas out of nowhere.

• Pokemon (name and/or nickname): Natu (Alex), Sneasel (Dorie), Noctowl (David)

• Physical Description (trainer and pokemon): Seraphina is a short young woman with long, light pink hair in bangs and wide blue eyes concealed behind a pair of glasses she's always pushing up. She has curves but doesn't usually dress to show them, preferring sturdy jeans and shirts she can wear in the field. Each of her pokemon show signs of much better grooming than she seems to apply to herself, each carefully tended.

• Personality: Seraphina herself is the epitome of a Cloud Cuckoolander. She seems to drift through life without a care in the world, murmuring abstractions as if she were in another world altogether. She becomes hyper-focused when something interests her though and can be downright relentless when she's determined to experiment with/on something. She doesn't set out to be cruel but she can be if her scientific interest is aroused or she's in a bad mood. There is a reason she joined Team Rocket after all.

Her personality is counterbalanced by her three pokemon. Natu is a Battle Butler who is constantly trying to drag the flighty Seraphina back to reality. He doesn't have much luck with that. Sneasel is there to encourage and nurture Seraphina's dark side, being a malicious trickster and thief herself. Her only loyalty is to Seraphina, who rescued her from a Piloswine who had her trapped in a box canyon. Noctowl was Seraphina's first pokemon (back when he was a Hoot Hoot) and he regards his mistress with fond exasperation. He's long since grown accustomed to her ways and gently nudges her back to whatever she's currently doing. He's a pragmatist who doesn't much care for ethical or moral issues and just wants to keep his charge safe.

• Background: Seraphina was born and raised in Blackthorn City to a pair of parents who, while loving, were somewhat remote. They were a Breeder/Coordinator pair who were constantly on the road and Sera was often left to entertain herself. She did so by studying everything she could about the amazing pokemon in the world around her, gaining a reputation as both a brain...and a nerd. She was picked on a lot as a kid, and her only comfort came from David, a Hoot Hoot she got when she was 8.

So it was no surprise that she declared that she wanted to be a Pokemon researcher when she grew up. Her parents supported that dream and encouraged her in school, but she soon got into trouble. She was smarter than most of the other kids and the teachers in her own scatterbrained way and earned resentment for it. The same thing happened when she got into college and started proposing radical theories that ran headlong into the academic establishment. The arguments built to the point where an influential dean had her expelled. Frustrated and aimless, she wandered for a bit. During this time she picked up Alex and Dorie, and was eventually contacted by a Team Rocket recruiter on the road. The prospect of limitless funds for her research and no things like oversight committees and ethical boards appealed to her. Team Rocket had a new member.

• Name: James (known as JJ or Jamie to everybody else.) Jones

• Age: "25"

• Height/weight: "5'10"/ 150 lbs

• Rank/ Job: Grunt/Field specialist: Does a lot of reconnaissance and overlooking operations. He surveys situations and aides in formulating plans.

• Hometown: Ecruteak City

• Specialty: This guy dabbles in the dark arts of pokemon, utilizing Dark, Psychic, and Ghost types. However he wants to acquire a fighting to counteract expectations. He's observant and sly and specializes in trickery. He's the type of guy you ask to do inside jobs.

• Pokemon (name and/or nickname):
  • Mr. Nightsly the Haunter
  • Lady Umbria the Umbreon
  • Lady Eva the Eevee (Hoping to become an Espeon)
• Physical Description (trainer and pokemon): Skinny and unfit black man in shades and a black flat cap and shoulder-length dreadlocks. Wears a black jacket with the collar popped up and the zipper down slightly to reveal a dark blue T-shirt underneath. The "R" on his uniform on small and on the chest pocket of his jacket. Wears black jeans and black slip-on shows. Carries around a backpack containing his "tools".

All his pokemon wear a dark blue scarf. His haunter has a hat like him,

• Personality: Jamie is a clam and collected person and a grinning fool who seems to smile even in the face if adversity. Jamie is not one to raise his voice and will try to reason things out. He's a generally sociable and friendly but has a tendency to play mean jokes or make sarcastic remarks. Always seems to be laughing to himself. Jamie is obsessed with darkness and finds calm in it. He enjoys the company more supernatural pokemon like ghosts, psychics, and darks. Their odd natures seem to compliment him the best. He is overall at odds with many other Rockets. Due to his pokemon-loving nature, Jamie usually always his his pokemon out and about with him, rarely using his pokeballs.
  • Mr. Nightsly is enthusiastic in everything he does and is openly affectionate to those he loves. Sometimes he rushes in without thinking.
  • Lady Umbria is a delicate and graceful being and very low energy, preferring to use as little effort as possible, she's also fairly spoiled and stuck up.
  • Lady Eva is cautious but curious and always has her nose in something. She's also distractable and tends to wander off, much to the chagrin of the others.
• Background: A resident of Ecruteak City, Jamie always had a fascination with dark and ghostly pokemon, making many consider him to be quite creepy. His first ever pokemon was an Eevee who was his pet that he raised as his best friend. Wanting to become closer to his city's history with darkness and the other world, Jamie made multiple attempts to become a Gym trainer or apprentice under Morty but he never succeeded and was constantly rejected for not being good enough and being too young.

When he was 17 and graduated form pokemon school, JJ and his Umbreon went on to find their purpose. After coming back from the Bellsprout tower and learning nothing except he liked the atmosphere there and that he got a Ghastly, he took the long way home through Goldenrod to find the city had succumbed to the Rockets. Fascinated by their uncanny ability to take over not just a Radio Tower but a whole city, Jamie followed them after they left and sneaked into their ranks and become a member from his lover of their sneakiness and dark schemes.

He enjoys participating in and planning thefts and other dark actions but absolutely abhors their idea that pokemon are weapons and wishes to remedy this viewpoint.

• My Dream: "I shall amass a small fortune and build my own Gym where I shall revel in the night with myself and my lovely children (pokemon) of the night, and we will be at peace."

• Name: Robbie Mc Gregor
• Age: 25
• Height/Weight: Uh, iunno... I'm pretty sure I'm 5'11", but I could be wrong. Weight, I have no idea what I am; maybe 165 or something?
• Rank/Job: I am a field operative with a lot of experience and... Okay, I'm a grunt. You happy?
• Hometown: I was born in the hellhole known as Cinnebar Island. Thank goodness that place is nothing but a burnt out crater now. But I grew up in Fuschia, so I don't have much to complain about.
• Specialty: Pokemon type? I like rats. Criminal specialty? I'm good at beating up little kids and stuff. Also, I don't look like much so I can kinda blend in sometimes.
• Pokemon (name and/or nickname):
  • My Sandslash, Clawleader: He was my friend since I was 12, so we're pretty close. He is a bit quirky, but he's loyal and can kick some ass, so he's cool.
  • My Raticate, Fangleader: This guy is new. I got him last year from this really freaking guy. I think it rubbed off on Fangleader, because he is scarily aggressive and seems to enjoy hurting things. Kinda creepy...
• Physical Description (trainer and pokemon):
  • Me: I'm average, I guess you could say. I got brown eyes and black hair. I wear my uniform with pride, but it often ends up with me getting mixed up as another nameless grunt. Kind of annoying, but it means that when I screw up, I can blame it on another grunt. Makes life quite a bit easier.
  • Clawleader: He's a bit shorter than your average Sandslash, but his claws are longer. His eyes are a bit cloudy but that's only when he loses focus. So just when he's not fighting, I guess...
  • Fangleader: He's a bit bulkier and larger than your average Raticate, with bigger teeth, claws, tail, etc. His eyes sometimes take on a black-red tint in the heat of the battle, which, frankly, scares the crap outta me.
• Personality: I guess you could say I am a bit quirky, even a bit odd. I just don't see the point in taking everything way too seriously. Mind you, the job is important for me, so I try hard at that, even though it doesn't always work out the way I want it to. Still, I hate getting in trouble, so I try and get out of it whenever possible.
• Background: My background isn't interesting, so I'll leave out all the boring childhood crap. I joined Team Rocket just before Giovanni left, so I'm kind of an old timer in terms of being a grunt. You'd be surprised at how often I'm passed over for promotion. But if I left, I am doubtful I'd get a good reference. Luckily, I wasn't sent on any of those missions where my co-workers got spanked by some kids. I'd feel bad for them if they weren't my competition. You know, its a Growlithe eat Growlithe world out there, so I might as well do my best to make sure I get somewhere. Hopefully before I'm old...
• My Dream: "My dream... Iunno. Get a Raichu, maybe?"

•Specialty: Mainly Psychics Pokemon, known for getting into peoples heads, understands psychosis.

•Pokemon (name and/or nickname): Hypno (Svengali), Espeon (Franz) and his strongest, Alakazam (Uri)

•Physical Description (trainer and pokemon): Alexander is a very odd looking person. His attire is siimilar to that of a Team Rocket scientist, Lab coat, brown coat udner it, pair of khakis (people question whether or not he has any other clothing, that's all he's ever seen in), very thick glasses and a head of thick brown hair.

•Personality: Alexander is very...eccentric. He's very open about his abilities and sometimes borders on the Large Ham of his personality. He believes that everyone has hidden potential and there is indeed a way to unlock it: it's just a matter of finding out how. He annoys most of his collegues, and can be serious when the need be.

Svengali: Svengali is the [1] when it comes to Alexander. While his master may flaunt in the background, Svengali will occasionally be in the foreground getting the work done. He's still extremely loyal to his master though.

Franz: Franz is the lazy one of the group with as much potential of the other Espeons, but chooses to not use it. He would much rather be sleeping than fighting, really.

Uri: Uri is the no-nonsense member of the group. He follows Alexanders orders to a T and occasionally tries to get his master back on course. As a result, he borders on The Dragon and The Pet.

•Background: Alexander was a child prodigy as a child but also got the short end of the stick. His entire reason for joining team rocket is a combination of "I'll show them what I can do!" and the capabilities of working with different Pokemon and the experiments that indeed follow.

•My Dream: Everyone has the hidden potential in their minds...and I plan to show them how to use it!

• Specialty: Intimidation, smash 'n' grab
• Pokemon:
  • Noctowl (Athena)
  • Graveler (Brick)
  • Victreebel (Phyllis)
• Physical Description: Very short (as in military buzz cut) brown hair. Slightly muscular, as he usually lets his Graveler do the heavy work. Dresses usually in jeans and a brown-button up jacket to cover his Rocket uniform.
• Personality: Appears stoic on the outside, but secretly harbors deep-rooted Ax-Crazy tendencies. He is prone to snap at the least provocation. He also likes causing pain, mostly to other people.
  • Athena: Steve's first Pokemon. Seems to possess an instinctive knowledge of what he wants her to do
  • Brick: A Boisterous Bruiser who is Steve's go-to Pokemon any time something needs to be smashed-up. Has deliberately not evolved, because he likes having four arms.
  • Phyllis: Steve's least-used Pokemon, due to her limited ability to move around. He usually uses her as an acid-spraying trap.
• Background: Steve discovered his love for violence as a young child, around the same time he met Athena (he saw her catch and eat a Spinarak). He was, unsurprisingly, a bully in school (although threatening people with a Hoothoot and a Bellsprout had limited applicability). He joined Team Rocket shortly after high school, largely because they provided a means for him to hurt people professionally.
• My Dream: Get paid to hurt people.
