Playable Akira? Yeah, okay, I can do that after I finish Jane Eyre and read Latw PIAT's fic draft, so, give me a bit. That's some motivation to finish this shit right there.

More like Aliens by way of Akira and Dragon Ball Z, but yeah. With Star Craft thrown in for good measure.

I'm tempted to play System Shock 2.

However, I still lack my own computer.

Attack Girls' Swim Team vs. The Undead. I think my IQ dropped 30 points after watching this.

Exhibition A: The trailer.

@melloncollie: Now do you see why I hate Japan so much?

An interesting title to liveblog would be Loveless, particularly if the reviewer were someone not part of the main demographic. hardly the best boy's love series ever printed, but certainly one of the more unsettling ones.

I want to see whether folks can still feel repugnance over anime pedophilia anymore.

Alright. So I just watched the trailer for Swim Team Whatsitcalledever and what the fuck.

What.

And the random lesbians and and and chainsaw and random pixellated sex scenes and the ridiculous punching and JESUS CHRIST MY BRAIN.

I'm gonna go cry now. ;____;

It's not pixellated in the real thing. I would say at least 50% of the screentime consists of schoolgirl breasts.

Erm. I guess I posted in the wrong thread. Pardon me.

It's much better if you laugh rather than cry. It really is. It's just that bad.

I didn't even need to know about the sex scenes. Just that math teacher fight. WTF

Oh, and Loveless has a fairly large number of things wrong with it. I haven't even seen it, I've only heard about it from a friend.

Seven words: "Are you going to take my ears?"

And so I was reborn... and no-one noticed anything had changed.

I only watched the Loveless anime after a warped friend of mine recommended it to me (warped git that she is). I soldiered through the series, mostly because I wasn't so bored or disturbed so as to flee in terror. I never read the manga, so given what you said ... ugh.

I did find some parts of the series sweet - the day the [1] goes on a festival with his teacher and friends as well as [2] was oddly touching, given how dysfunctional the kid's life had been before. Ultimately, though, the pedophilic overtones pair with the histories of sexual abuse and dysfunction in a number of characters did not make me a happy Sneebs.

Still, I heartily recommend this series to liveblog, if only to see how others react when proposed with such thematic elements.

On a happier note, why don't we have a Dennou Coil liveblog? it's sweet without being saccharine, and would appeal to many of the Ghibli fanboys and girls around here. Why not?

Thirdly: Simoun, the Liveblog? I haven't seen this series, only knowing that it's (1) a Jigsaw Puzzle Plot, and (2) it's Betterthan It Sounds. experiment, anyone?

I'd also like to see Simoun, if only so I can get a better idea of what the crap is going on in some of those episodes, especially the ending, which as far as I can is one of the cruellest Yank The Dogs Chains I've ever seen.

Dennou Coil is neat... I wouldn't do a liveblog of it only because commenting on every episode isn't my thing.

It's something best shared with a large group, though.

This is why I never recommend Loveless to people, though I adore it. I love Dysfunction Junction and disturbing themes in general, but I know that most people don't. Scold your friend for me.

If anyone liveblogs Loveless, I dare that person to do the manga. As is often the case with adaptions undertaken and abandoned before their source material concludes, the anime doesn't manage to explain what's going on. Unless the person doing the liveblog just chooses it in order to object to the overtones of pedophilia, the child abuse, the BDSM motifs, etc., which can be done just as effectively without knowledge of the plot. In that case, just go with the anime, it's shorter.

If we're daring people to respond to controversial series: Kodomo No Jikan. Seriously, I think it's a series that deserves complaints more informed than what it gets. I read it, and I felt sullied afterward, but now I know what I'm talking about.

Oh, somebody should do a comic liveblog of Runaways. If only because the first two volumes are generally awesome and it does a good job of avoiding the Continuity Lockout ridden in the Marvel Universe.

Now if somebody wants to tackle something continuity heavy the should try to recent X-Overs Messiah Complex and Messiah War.
